Can I put larger (diameter) rotors on and run stock rims? or does size or rims determine max size of rotor?
99% of the time the manufacturer of the big brake kit will specify the minimum wheel size needed to clear the calipers. the rotor size isnt the issue, its the caliper youre looking to clear. if you are unsure then ask the company and they will tell you
or if youre looking to do a legend brake swap or something like that then i would suggest having at least a 16in wheel on hand to test fit. a 15 may work with certain spoke designs but im not sure. if you are actually looking at buying an aftermarket bbk then ask the company and they will tell you
i am currently running the itr calipers and mini cooper rotors on my da with 15x7 949 wheels eta 36. The caliper brackets must be milled down 3mm or you can run a 3mm wheel spacer
To my knowledge, you can’t fit bigger brakes than stock with the stock 14" wheels.
who runs the stock 14s though?
z1gary would like to
Yeah, the clearance to the caliper is already only a few mm, so I’m not aware of any larger caliper/rotor which will fit under the original 14" wheels.
you know what… i think i completely ignored the stock wheel part… oops
Thx guys…looks like I’m stuck in stock for another while.
Do you really need bigger brakes? The stock sized brakes should be more than suitable for most situations.
