daily driven lowered setup?? tophats?? noob!!!

Looking to lower my da9 but having trouble on what to get. So far I was thinking about getting tokico blues with Megan racing coiliver sleeves or skunk 2 coilover sleeves. Is that all I need like just the tokico blue strut and coilover sleeves? I’m confused with this top hats also do I need those for this setup? And before anyone.tells me to search I did but mostly all the threads are about like Autocross setups and people just hate on the tokicos. I couldn’t find one for daily driven. So yeah people help me out cause I really wanna order my parts soon!

Oh BTW has any one ever had or tried the progress full coilover kit?

i bought the skunk 2 sport shocks and paired them with ground control coilovers.used the oem tophats.rides verrrry good.i would definetly look into the sk2 sports over the tokico blues.

Yeah I was looking at those too. But what I’m trying to get at is will coilover sleeve and struts work well as full coilovers? And do I need top hats?

If you need a decent susp. set up. I can sell you my Omni Power sleeves, KYB Gr-2’s(rear) and Tokico Illumina’s (front) and extended top hats (front only) for $250.00. Equipment has miles, but in working condition. I just recent upgraded to Koni/GC. send me a txt to Seven one 4- Eight 5 one - 975 six

i’m in SoCal.

what kind of top hats

Full coilovers will always perform better than sleeves, its all in the tunning, spring rate and quality of the equipment. I had sk2 pro coilovers and they were perfect , I set them to 2" lower and they felt smooth on the road and highway and stuff enough the corner hard.
You also have to cut the yellow bump stops by half so the strut can have good travel/rebound, some people don’t then say it’s to stiff.
My advice is save money for a full coilover setup and enjoy it, no sense in making a shock and sleeve combo that rides stiff and bumpy.

im rolling on dc/eg kyb agx with ground controls ,rides pretty good no bounce and pretty good for DD. make sure u get dc or eg front forks for the front strut

I had some OEM top hats extended about 3/4". The welding job is superior and very clean.

would you be willing to sell just the top hats???

sure $100 shipped I’m paypal friendly if you have an account. I can get them out to you asap. if you need me to send you some pics let me know. you have my number up top, just text me your cell number and will send it right away.

Is that for just a pair, or for 4??? if it is just for a pair, that is kind of expensive. Ground control top hats are only $120 for a pair brand new.

yes, its only for the front 2. And I agree, I will do $80 shipped then. lmk

I’m thinking about lowering mine as well, also a daily. I’ve read that you have to use DC/EG forks fi you want to have a variety of lowering options. With the Skunk2 kits, do you need to swap the forks? Or can you run factory forks? I’ve noticed if you get the sport shocks they come with the top hats, and if you sleeves you get the adjustment tools and everything. Thus making a complete kit, while saving 150 because they all have free shipping. Or is it not that easy haha.

Exactly what I was looking for u got pics of ho the front wheel looks…??

I got Tokico Blues with coilover sleeves. (not sure what coilovers I have) dropped about 3" on fat 5 rims from a 3rd gen teg. I can tell you that my ride is nice and rigid on the ground & hugs turns well.

unless you are goin to the track or seriously rice grinding the blues will work great with a descent coilover and save ya a few bucks.

I’ve used blues with coilovers on all my past honda cars and love em for general city and freeway / mountain driving out here in Cali… I’ll put a couple pics up when I get home form the office today.
