Hi there first of all sorry if this is in the wrong post. Well just right before winter was over and we still had some snow my car slid and hit a crub at about 10-15 mph. It was my driver side, Now my steering wheel is crooked but worst of all my car pulls to the right more and everytime i go over a bumpy road my car doesnt feel as stable as before. I tried driving it in the rain and it was very hard to control due to car pulling to the right and felt like it was slipping on the road. Just looking my driver side tire it looks to be pushed closer to the fender than my passenger side. Any help would be awesome. thanks
The best thing I can offer is to just crawl under there and see if you can see anything that’s obviously bent.
wheel alignment…bent tie rods…or steering knuckle…or loose wheel bearing
You probably bent your lower control arm… my brother jumped a curb during the winter and his tire was noticeably shifted backwards when compared to the other side.
Best bet is to take it to an alignment shop and ask them to give it a once-over.
…
Sounds like the lower tie rod
well i just changed out the lower tie rod end and it’s stiill the same gonna do the passanger side too., have no clue as of now. unifield112 if i take it in to allignment shop and ask for a once-over will they know wat i’m talkin about and price wise how much they charging for that. What is the meaning of (once-over). Thanks guys.
when you changed the lower tie rod was there noticeable damage any where else?
if nothing looks broke it might just be that you knocked the alignment out of wack, check bushings too.
shouldn’t be driving around like that, it sounds unsafe.
count yourself lucky, my dad slid his custom ford truck with lifted suspension & Barret engine into a curb in Fond Du Lac last winter, broke his axle. (I’d say he was damn lucky too after spending more than 20k on that truck.)
I hit a curb with my teg on the driver side and its been wacky ever since, i used to see some tire rub spots on the fender liner but all i notice since then is some bump steer and a slightly bent sway bar & end link.
josh721 i dont see any othere damage just. Balljoints looks good tie rod end took a shit but replaces that. Inner tire rod was still good wasnt loose or nothing.
Malformed all bushing still looks normal.
no clue to wat it is now but im temped to order and new front lowercontrol arm and see if that solves the problem, but might just take it to a alinment shop first. damn snow i swear…
get a alighnment or alighnment inspection. they will tell you whats wrong and tell you whats bent or what needs to be replaced. Trust me, I work at Wheel Works and i recommend you do the same thing. you might have shifted the subframe, but alighnment will help you.
all right here’s an update of what i’ve replaced so far : new rack and pinion, new tie rod ends both side and new passenger side axel. I finally took it to the shop to get a allignment done and sure enough my front crossmember was slightly pushen in so they wouldn’t do it for me. One of the big bolts that bolts down the crossmember and the crossmember shifted a little. What would be the best thing for me to do as of now, how much will it cost me to replace the front crossmember, and will it fix my problem. thanks u all for the helpful info.
Definitely have a shop look at it… I had a similar accident with a 90 Honda Accord… my eye didn’t see much wrong… the mechanic found damage to the subframe which caused my wheel to be skwewed…
