damn it!!

ok, i need some help. the only thing i can say is its making some noise, like “swirl swirl” kinda noise i guess. its comming from the front and the steering wheel vibrates, and i can feel it in the pedals also. almost seems like it could be a warped rotor but i dont know…anyone got any ideas.

btw: this started after i raced someone. grrr im so tierd of this sh!t.

hey I get that too…the steering wheel shakes a bit when I brake and that swirly noise is faint… I haven’t worried about it because I though it was just one of my rotors. Don’t really know though…seems like it.

well, i just noticed its pretty quite if the steering wheel is straight, but when i turn it AT ALL, even the slightest bit, it gets louder…could it have anything to do with the axels?

i dont think its my rotors, because i didnt have this noise/vibration at all, then i reced some guy and right after that is when i noticed it. i checked the motor mounts and they are fine. checked the tires, they are fine…what could it be!!!

my steering made a squeel/swirly noise when some of my bushings were worn out…I think the front sway bar ones. Its hard to tell without hearing the sound so its probably not the same problem but just a guess…GL

also it pulls to the right badley…:frowning:

ill take a look at the sways

Teggy: If i smoke my tires too much racing someone, i get the same sound coming from my drivers side wheel. I don’t know what it is but it really pisses me off. It sound like my CV joint on my axel is F**Ked, but the sound goes away with 5 minutes of driving smoothly. Guess i’m just wondering if this is the same thing??

well that happened a few days ago and its still doing it…its really pissing me off, i have to drive my stupid eclipse right now

well, form my knowledge, the noise you here when turning the wheel, i assume at very low speeds, is normal with many cars, but to keep from it getting worse, the best thing to do is not turn the wheel when the car is not moving, let it roll a little. this is because it is easier on the cv joints to not “twist” in place. the shaking you feel is usually rotors, but i have the same problem when my brakes get heated up…the prob is not that the rotors are warped. what happens is that when the brakes are very warm they “grow”. it is normal, especially with the stock rotors. if you switch to vented or cross-drilled rotors, this is less likely to happen.

also, if it the cv joint, they have kits to replace the boot and are about 15.00 bucks, although you might want to buy an extra set of hose clamps. it is easy to do…i did my driver side one about 2 months ago and it is still good, even after driving from texas to utah and thru the mountain roads. make sure you follow the directions very carefully. also, while you have that wheel off, check the inner cv joint, it is mounted on the transmission and comes out towards the front wheel. mine has a small cut, i didn’t want to screw with it, so i wrapped some electrical tape around it…its good. hope that helps.

i think he’s got it. It’s the axle’s joint, just pick the car up and take a look at them if any of them are ripped you’ll be able to notice. There will be grease all around the ripped boot.

hey man, thank you, i think i know what it is now. my freind had this same prob, where the little metal snap ring on the tranny side of the cv joint broke and it was popping in and out while driving.

its doing all the symptoms at all speeds not just slow, also i have cross drilled rotors so its not that either. even though you were way off i think you helped me solve my prob

THANK YOU TXNTEG!!!

no prob… this is why i don’t race anymore…

well, that wont stop me from racing, just slows it down until i get it fixed:p

do as you please.

i do;)
