dashboard removal ????

So my integra is sitting in the shop right now getting a jdm b18 installed. Before it left i removed the entire interior to redo the nasty brown to sems interior landau black , medium grey and suede inserts. I got everything out almost too easy now all i have left to do is remove the dashboard. I havent found any write-up’s or guides to do this and the haynes manual doesnt say anything about this. anyone care to share some info for me ? or should I have a professional take care of this ? any info would be great ill be posting pictures when i am done with the repaint !!! :read:

I was going to tell you to search, but then I realized i couldn’t find any of the old threads explaining how to do this so, lets get you started:

first off:
http://www.g2ic.com/tegtips/interior/21.html
use the first doc. step by step on how to remove “parts” of your dash. This is just to illustrate where the screws are to certain panels that need to be removed.
the hardest part is removing the cluster, so follow those instructions up to that point.

second link:
http://www.g2ic.com/forums/showthread.php?t=181384&highlight=remove+dashboard

another thread of someone explaining how to remove a DA dashboard. Just take your time and dont force anything. The bolts needed to be removed are bigger than any other bolt found anywhere on the dash and (if i remember correctly) are like a brass/zinc color.

if you have any more questions feel free to ask.

HTH

edit if you dont have a HELMS manual, get one. Can be found online if you look for it. or bought off of ebay on a CD.

it’s easy to do. takes time but it is very doable. the hardest part for me was the clock. be veeeeeeeeeeery careful with it!

what i used to remove the clock was a real thin letter opener or knife, just enough to wedge in there and pop it out, now unplugging it was a bitch.

thanks guys I am going to be doing this saturday any tips for the clock ? the plug is dumb looking.

cluster help

i am trying to pull the cluster out in my 92 integra LS and it wont come out. I got the cluster to move about a half an inch and that is all. some one told me that you have to yank the cluster real hard but i dont want to do that because i am afraid that it will break. anybody that has done this please give me insight.

P.S. anyone selling blades for a good price hit me up. my email is hotshot34265@comcast.net. i live at 61348 so shipping might be involved.

DO NOT YANK THE CLUSTER OUT!! telling you from experience. from doing that i had to replace the speedo cable cause the cable snapped.

whats holding it back is the speedo cable
what you gota do is put ur hand into the back find the cable connected to the back of the cluster.

now that cable is connected with a clip. so press down on the clip and pull it out. its kind of hard. but its doable.
heres a link i found through searching

http://g2ic.com/tegtips/interior/6.html

grab the spedo cable from the engine bay side and push it throught the gromet while someone pulls the speedo out slowly.

You only need a good inch or two to get your hand in there:)

guage help

it broke anyways but only the metal piece from the cluster came off the cable. I got hte metal piece back on and had to pull the whole dash forward and drop the column and i could sqeak my hand in but that is the first and last time i will pull that cluster head. so much work just to replace a couple of bulbs. I wish there is an acura dealer around where i live so i can get the seat belts fixed. i got it narrowed down to the door latch and the anchor switch are keeping the automatic seat belt from working.:bawl:

I feel your pain :bawl: :frowning: lol
