DB1 budget daily

I have been wanting another DB1 for a while now. This will be my third over the years. Got my first one in 1995 and sold it when I moved to Sweden in 2000. It was a 1990 that I drove the crap out of and didn’t know how to work on cars and it went to shit. Acquired a second one while living in Sweden which is rare since they didn’t sell them in Europe. It was a 1992 Canadian import. Loved the manual belts. Left that one there when I moved back to Cali in the spring of 2009. Bought a 1991 DA shortly after I moved back and I still have it but it’s been a slow slow project, have yet to put a motor in it and finish up the suspension and what not. Have acquired some nice parts over the past few years for it. But I have always wanted another DB1. So on Saturday night I was cruising Craigslist and saw a 1990 DB1 for sale for $1200 that needed a new alternator. So I racked my brain about if I really needed it and if I could afford it. So Sunday morning I emailed the guy and he then called and I talked him down to $900 and a few hours later I picked it up. Come to find out the throw out bearing is bad. So I’m going to put on the spare transmission I have and put on my lightweight flywheel and a new clutch I have laying around. I also have a Extra set of one pieces that will go on and also some ITR spec KW coilovers that I have. It’s going to be my daily commuter car so I just need a reliable something to get me around. I will also need to fix the passenger side leak. The seller told me it leaks. It has some body damage on the passenger rear door and a little on the rear wheel well but i will most likely just leave it. Not looking for a show car. Also have some fat 5’s I have laying around that will probably be going on. Well now onto the pictures.

Wow great buy man! I would definetly pick it up for that price aswell.
enjoy!

Great price

The brown interior is slowly starting to grow on me haha.

Nice pick up! That interior would take some getting used to though.

Yeah the interior will take some getting used to. At least it’s pretty clean. I prefer a darker color but this will do. I don’t feel like sourcing a black interior. Don’t wanna drop a lot of cash into this car. Just want a clean sedan but I’m sure I will keep doing little things here and there to it. Will be working on it this weekend. Going to drop the motor and do the clutch and I decided to change the timing belt and water pump while it’s out.

updates?

I sure do but have been working on the car so much that I forget to update. I am sicker than a dog right now but I will post pics of the process in the next couple days. Let’s just say that I put in a different transmission, installed a new alternator, lowered it, new front wheel bearings, energy bushings up front, steel braided lines and installed my one pieces. I also fabbed up my own jumper harness for the one pieces. Didn’t want to hack into my harness.

The back is a little lower than the front. I will even it out this coming week. Need to clean up my fat 5’s and put those on too. I’m sure there will be little things here and there to also fix on the car. Bought a keyless entry system for the car and will be installing that in the near future and also some rear speakers.

Nice find for the price
