DB1 engine start problem

Hello everyone, since fall began, my DB1 has been experiencing starting problems.

Every morning, when I turn the key to the ON position, the check engine light (CEL) comes on. After waiting about a minute, I hear a clicking sound from the relay, and the CEL turns off automatically, at which point I can successfully start the engine.

This week, the weather has gotten colder, and sometimes I have to wait 10+ minutes before the light turns off. I’ve consulted several local mechanics, and the OBD1 system shows code 15, but they haven’t been able to find the cause. Have any of you experts encountered a similar situation? Do you have any solutions?

Do you by chance have a spare ECU to try?

Remind me what Code 15 is too…

That’s the second ECU; the first one was damaged due to a water leak. I was unlucky and couldn’t find a third one yet.

A search on here states Code 15 is ignition system. Have you tried a new distributor? (vs just going the coil/ignitor route)

I wonder if it’s your gear position switch. Maybe the contacts need cleaning.

Hey this is a good thought, especially when it’s cold outside.
