I got a oem trunk spoiler for db1 at picknpull for $20 but it had one broken stud has anyone fixed one or have any ideas on how to fix it?
wow lucky find!!! i wish i could find a mint one as i just had mine repainted and it cracked already…damn rubber…as for the stud is there enough left to put 2 small nuts on it to back it out?
No theres only room to screw in one nut unless i can find some skinny ones and try that
yea id try n find 2 skinny nuts put them on tighten against each other and then back it out…any hardware store should have something u can replace it with
Yea ill try that thanks for your input
Try making a new one out of a carriage screw/bolt. Shave/cut the side so that they fit in the slot where the original stud went. IIRC, the original stud was welded to a rectangular plate that then slide into the slot of the spoiler. This way the stud could slide a bit to align with the holes. The flat sides would hold against the slot in the spoiler so it wouldn’t spin when you screwed the nut down to tighten the spoiler down.
maybe i’m crazy, but wouldnt grinding/eliminating that one stud, bolting down the others and using double sided tape suffice?
I did my stud fix by going to fastenal and find similar bolts and nuts
