DC 4-1 header on db1 help

I have a DC header 4 to 1 and you probably already know it’s one piece. I’m trying to put it on my Integra GS.
I got my old manifold off and tried to put the DC on. No go. I tried raising and lowering the engine with a jack but no matter what I try I cant get it to slip in.
Ok, I’ve done this before and all I did was basically lower the header into position while turning it. Kinda like “snaking” it in with the motor all still in place. But that was on an EF ls swap. I think I had a little more room then.

It really looks like I would have to remove the engine to put it on. That or remove the radiator but that only gives me a little room. about 1" to 1 1/2"
I know someone’s done this. Please help.

Drop the four bolts (two on each side) from the front crossmember.

You’re actually going to have to “trim” the crossmember for proper clearance… it’s very well known that the 2nd gen chassis does not like a 4-1 header.

Something along these lines:

yep gotta cut the shit out of the crossmember, or just spend the money on a nice traction bar set up…

Dang, why didn’t I think of that. I’ve had to drop it before for something else.
Yeah I remember it hitting and kinda rattling on the ef crossmember too. Thanks for the help!

I had to notch a little bit out of my crossmember too when fitting in some Hytech Reps. The mechanic who was helping me out was piiiiissed that we did that. “You’re going to play fate with a structural piece that holds the car together…” blah blah blah… no you won’t. Notch out that bit and bolt up your header. I later ditched the Hytech’s and went with a DC 4-2-1 2 piece header. Much easier to install.

If you know a good welder, you can cut away what isn’t needed, and have the welder “box in” the hole and re-produce some of that integrity.

Best case is an aftermarket traction bar.
