So I decided one day that my shifter had way to much slop in it while in gear. So I started the hunt for an OEM setup that would fix the sloppy U-joint in my shift rod. Turns out the DA shift rod has been discontinued, but I was informed that the linkage from a DC Integra should fit and work just fine. At ~ $60 the price was right so I figured it was worth a shot. I got it in the mail yesterday and the end that attaches to the shifter was bent as if it had been dropped, but I didn’t feel like trying to return it so I just threw it in the vice and straightened the tabs out. I got it installed with no real issues (bitch pin came out much easier than when I did my clutch), but again had to add some washers to space out the gap between the shifter and linkage. I got it all buttoned up and went to do the final test of rowing through the gears only to find the shifter is now sitting much further forward (4th gear is where neutral was). I have a dual bend short shifter and it was never an issue with the old set up. Does anyone else have this issue or did I end up getting a bad part? For reference the P/N is 54201-ST7-G00 for a 94-01 Integra.

you do know the fix for a sloppy shifter doesnt involve replacing the shift linkage?

the fix for your issue is to put the da shift linkage BACK IN the way it was before you messed with it and replace the bushings with the ES bushings. that WILL fix your issue. the “slop” you have when you wiggle the shifter from left to right can also be “fixed” but its really not necessary.
if you watch this video

the u joint hes talking about is where most of your problems are. there is a write up somewhere that shows you how to fix it. basically, you just remove that pin that holds the u joint to linkage and replace the shims on the inside until its no longer… sloppy.
ES bushings have already been installed and didn’t fix the issue in the least. Apparently I should have just bought a couple dollars worth of c-clips instead of waiting on the part for two weeks. Oh well, I guess I will see how livable it is through the 1000km trip this weekend and go from there.
wow… then your problem must be with the u joint like in the video.
well… cool. good luck =/
Are you using the dc shifter too? Sounds like your shifter is backwards. The dc shifter should sit further back
I’m using a dual bend Megan unit I believe and I didn’t rotate it from when I removed the DA linkage to installing the DC linkage.
his how mine sits…
Hmmm. Do you have the DC stabilizer bar as well? I’m starting to think that could be my issue.
There you go… I tried using just the shifter part of the linkage and it didnt work right. I cant remember what the problem was but I took it right back off
Damn, and that’s the expensive part haha. Guess I’ll wait for a 5 speed DC to come through the local scrap yard.
Yea when you use a dc shifter you’re supposed to use the entire assembly. Btw, i love the dc shifter swap… its alot beefier and stiffer than the da
Is the shifting tighter also?
Oh yea… every da ive been in had a sloppy shifter.
So I found my DC stabilizer arm and was just wondering if the DA short shifter and other pieces would swap over? Or do I need to run a DC specific shifter?
Thanks for the help everyone who contributed. For those interested in going this route you’ll need both the shift bar and the stabilizer bar to get good results. Also the DA shifter sits right at home in the DC stabilizer bar. The only trouble I had was getting the lower dust boot over because it sits a touch further back now. I just pulled the center console out to ensure it was seated properly because it makes a hell of a lot of racket without that bit sealed.
