DC Sport Catback

I just bolted on my DC Sport Catback this morning. Thank you to everyone who helped me choose it, I cannot say how much I love this exhaust. Thanks especially to Stew who gave me pictures and a lot of details! (where would I be w/o g2ic?)

Installation was really easy. I unbolted the original custom piping I had, and then took it off the hangers. The hangers are a bitch to get off, cuz they’re on there tight. The best thing to do is to undo the part connected to the car first, then yank it off the hanger from the piping. The rest fit in perfectly. Beautiful exhaust.

The exhaust itself is very shiney chrome, it looks increadible from the underside. The piping follows the path of the stock piping, and the muffler sits sideways like the stock muffler does, and then out of that comes another pipe with a very nice slanted tip. The tip has DC Sport etched in the top, which I think is pretty cool. The tip itself looks very high quality, except for some reason mine was bent on one side, probably because of shoddy shipping, but nevertheless it was great

The sound is amazing! There is NONE if you don’t floor it! This is exactly what I wanted. If you’re idling, you might get scared that your car has turned off on you (at least for me it sounded like that). I kept thinking my car died on me or something, but in fact you just can’t hear it.

I floored it once at WOT, and wow it had this real deep tone to it, which was barely audible from the inside until I hit 5.5k rpm, then it roared! But after i let up and stayed around 80mph, there was no noise. 4k rpm and no noise! But if I floor it a bit to go faster, i slightly hear the low pulse of it.

The performance felt better with the new exhaust, though I did slap in a carsound high flow cat along with the new exhaust to take place of the stock cat, so I"m not sure if that had influence. I’m sure that it is better than my 2.25" custom piping with 18" resonator and obx bomb tunable muffler.

Overall, I rate this to be a VERY high quality exhaust, and I would recommend it to anyone, and everyone looking for a quiet everyday drivable exhaust, with performance, and something that’ll roar when WOT.

JD Motorsports : $500 shipped for new DC Sport Catback for 93 2door LS/GS-R
Box Size: 6 feet tall, 3 feet wide, ~50 lbs w/ catback.
Installation: 1.25 hours

A few quick questions for you.
What header are you using? Do you have a CAI?
What’s the diameter of the DC catback?
Is it full stainless?
Does JD have a website I can check out?

I found the DC for $450 plus shipping. Do you remember how much it cost you to ship it?

Sorry for all the questions. Thanks for your time.

I have a AEM CAI, and I have a DC Sport Ceramic Header. The DC Catback is full stainless steel. JD doesn’t have a website that works. try jdmotorworks.com

and I got my dc sport for $500 shipped. It is a fat deal, I got it below dealer cost + shipping… at least that’s what the guy told me.

goodluck

Hey Art, I hate to burst your bubble but $500 is not below dealer cost.

$500 includes tax and shipping… ? no good? Dang.

I know you had an aftermarket exhaust already, but did you notice any gains in performance after installing the DC?

So I guess the 500 you paid is better than the $450+shipping I found then? Does it really cost $50 to ship an exhaust? If you and JD are both in CA and that’s why you had to pay taxes then it would be less than $500 for me since I’m out of state correct? Unless the shipping will be more for me in SC. I’m sorry if that was confusing I hope it made sense to you.

Oh and do you know the diameter of the piping? About 60mm I would guess.

wasup, sorry I didn’t answer all your questions.

Piping is 2.25" which is 57mm. That’s probably the prime diameter for an N/A car.

Shipping did cost $50, cuz for our cars the box is oversized. It’s about 6 feet tall and 3 feet wide, and 1 foot deep. 50 lbs.

performance gain? OH YEAH. that baby was quieter, and made everything smoother. It didn’t sound like my car was breaking down, instead it sounded like my car was roaring it’s power. I also put in a high flow cat, so that helped too. Before this i had a custom piping with a fart can… and that was NASTY. DC IS THE BEST! ask Stew… i forget what his name ont he boards is though. do a search for DC Sport catback, you’ll find a lot of stuff =o)
