DC Sports Exhaust

This should be in Product Reviews, but nobody goes there

I always here good stuff about the Greddy MX, HKS hiper, Tanabe Racing Medallion, etc… But how’s the DC Sports? It’s stainless steel for one thing, but how is sound/performance?

I know 604GsR’s got one, and Ive has one to put on…

I installed the DC Sports cat-back myself in October to replace the busted, rusted-out OEM muffler on my 92 LS.

I love the sound. It’s not obnoxious at normal driving. (My wife also drives the car and would hate a ricey sounding exhaust.) It’s a nice roar when accelerating. Too nice, in fact, I find myself rabbit-starting at green lights just to hear the growing growl!

It’s the first engine related mod for my Teg. (I focused on the suspension first.) I can’t give any performance related numbers or findings. Even if there wasn’t any increase in hp I wouldn’t care, the sound and the looks (and I hope durability) of the full cat-back polished stainless is worth it for me.

The price was cheaper than an Acura factory exhaust installed at the dealer. And I got the joy of doing the work myself.

I have to say that the exhaust is almost as quiet as the Greddy one, so you’ll like it. Plus the entire unit is made out of SS, not like the MX, Cliff was recommending that to me as he was installing my Greddy.

i was looking @ that exhaust too… cause I figured it wouldn’t be too “loud” which is what i’m after.

But I’ve been kinda perplexed why not many people have it. since it’s cheaper than Greddy, etc, and lots-o-people seem to like the DC header…

anyone else w/ experience?

Could it be that maybe it costs even more than the Greddy?? I don’t know. I would like to know the exact cost of it though. I want a better exhaust than my Dynomax muffler and stock rusted pipes.

no they are usually a little cheaper than greddy exhausts (granted you can’t really find the old Greddy SP exhaust new anymore)… about 450 new for a DC Sports Fully SS catback for 92-93 tegs.

Damn, that’s expensive! It’ll work out to about $900-$1000 CDN after exchange rate, shipping and tax. I sometimes hate Canada for its pathetic currency.

Yea i have wondered why the DC sports exhaust isn’t as popular compared to the greddy MX. DC makes a great header, so exhaust should be as good.

Last time i quoted at a local shop, (garage5) they said CDN $950 i believe for the DC. So that’s rougly the same as the Greddy MX.

Any other opinions?

The DC is indeed about 50 more than the MX I believe. The only prob is, instead of just crawling underneath the car and keep the muffler shiny, now you have to crawl underneath the entire car and keep the pipe clean too!!

Too much work for me

true… it depends on where you look, because some stores price the DC cheaper and some price it more expensive. the good thing about the DC exhaust system is that it’s 50 States emissions legal.

does anybody know if this exhaust sound stock?

sounds similar or maybe a bit louder than the greddy mx
but nothing close to the loudness of tanabe nor is it as quiet as the HKS sport and RSR

TosaTeg,

could u post a pic up of your exhaust so I can see how it looks sittin’ under tha car? I’m lookin’ at that same exhaust, so I’m just curious to see how it looks.

Old picture taken shortly after installing the DC Sports cat-back last Fall. I’ll take some more exhaust specific pics tomorrow and post.

uh… i did a dc sport catback product review, do a search.

in a nutshell: DC SPORT IS EXTREMELY QUIET! when i first installed it, I didn’t know if my car was on or not just by sound, but only after looking at the tach. at WOT it will have a low roar/rumble, it’s awsome at around 5k it resonates, but you can still talk to the person next to you without shouting. On the highway you can barely notice it, unless you turn off the radio and have your super soft shocks and brand new engine mounts totally silent. but if you give it a little gas it rumbles.

i would say this is one of the best exhausts out there.

I compared it to my friend’s RSR on his civic, the sound was almost identical.

As promised – new pics:

what about tha Thernal R&D cat-back? I’ve read some good things about it from other g2 owners. Do yall thinks it tha same or better as tha DC exhaust?

i’ve heard the thermal, but i don’t like the tone =O( it doesn’t sound as good.

my friend just got the DC exhaust on his 90 accord
its quieter than my MX

if you don’t mind a quiet exhaust go with the DC
its more $$$ but its stainless steel all the way to the cat!!
