Degreeing Cams (or not) on LSVTEC

I am nearing completion of my B18B1/B17 LSVTEC. Its a stage 1 level engine built ground up. The head was decked .005 in and the block was decked but I don’t know how much. I bought it that way. I will have about 10.8-11 compression using SRP pistons and have Skunk2 Stage 1 cams. I have the center line spec for the VTEC lobe on the cams but I don’t have anything to lock the VTEC rocker to degree the VTEC lobes. I have the dial indicator etc. but thought maybe I could degree the primary lobe (if I had the spec).

Otherwise my options are:
Don’t degree the cams or,
Degree the VTEC lobes by disassembling the head, locking the #1 cylinder rockers, degree the cams, disassemble again and put everything back to normal.

I don’t feel I want to risk not degreeing but the other option is a lot of work.
Any suggestions?

Roger, i’ll have your answer 2moro. Gord degreed my boys BC4’s in his b18c1 on his back at the machine shop. it took an hour, but, its not a disassemble type of process. the best part of degeeing is, u are essentially dialing in the cams perfectly to the motor. i’ll email u

Great. Thanks Charles.

Charles, all I need to know is how the rockers were locked to activate the VTEC lobe.
