My db2 is milano red and I’m currently rocking a white gas tank door, not because I painted it, but because the original is rusted and I picked up the white one at the junk yard.
It looks alright, gives it a little character but not sure if I’ll leave it that way for long.
gas filler doors are like pimples on an otherwise clean profile. drawing attention to them is silly.

thats what i did. i have my da primered white. i primered the hood roof trunk door handles and gas door black 
why did you ask if you already think it will look good? IMO, you should leave it the colour of the rest of the car. It will look stupid black on a light blue car. When all is said and done though, it only matters what you want. It’s your car, after all. I would never do it to mine though.

Different strokes for different folks. IMO that rice. That’s almost as bad as rattle canning hatches, hoods and roofs primmered black on clean cars with good paint

Nobody that drives a rice rocket thinks that their car is rice. That’s why they end up looking so terrible, because the owner actually thinks that it looks good. Have you ever heard someone say “Dude, my car is such a rice burner. Fuck it looks terrible”? I bet you haven’t. I bet when you see a ricer driving his car, he thinks it’s the shit. I would also put money on it that when you talk to said ricer, he would say something like “Look at my sweet chrome tails! Aren’t they the shit!?!”
But, like I said, you are the one driving it. Do whatever makes you happy. It’s your car, let it reflect your style. Whether it’s rice or not.
Paint it and be done with it. No point in asking a question if you can’t take criticism. Thread done.
