I’m taking my Teg to the shop and it has a JDM b16a1, I was wondering what car I can tell my mechanic the engine came form, since he doesn’t really have any knowledge of JDM engines.
So, are there any USDM Honda’s that have a b16a1 stock?
Sorry for the dumb question, but it’s a damn hard one to find in a search.
There is no such engine as a B16A1. JDM engines don’t end in a number, so they are all stamped B16A.
The Del Sol VTEC w/ B16 would be the best match for you, however the B17A1 found in the 92-93 GS-R is VERY similar to the early JDM B16As, aside from its crankshaft and rods.
Not to mention the civic si models from 99-00 also had the b16a1, and yes knowledge is right, the b16 jdm motors don’t end in a number like the usdm. It would be b16a as he said if its jdm. The jdm b16s are out of the xsi’s in japan from 89-92.
japanese xsi came with two variants, they weren’t stamped this, however they are an a1 and a2, the engines had only slight differences including engine management ,cam profiles etc, etc, the a1 also came in ef8 and ef9 crx and civics, simplist way of telling if its from an xsi a1 is if it has the extra vaccum on the intake manifold
