Driving along in my 92 LS 335,000kms and the engine cut out while doing about 70km/h. Tried restartiing - jus turned over & over. Rolled to a stop, pushed it along the side of the road into a parking lot. Thought at first I broke the timing belt. Then I realized it turned over sounding fairly normal - if the belt broke, I would think it would sound different - only turning some of the parts perhaps. I called my wife, got a ride home, went to this site and searched…bought a ignition coil and returned to my car. Removed the dist. cap and found all kinds of corrosion…cleaned it up and it started right up!
I thought that this teg finally died Drove it home happily. Hope this info helps someone else.

Sweet man, gotta love it when it’s just something minor like that
Ha, my car did the same thing. I heard it grinding for acouple days and then it finally started missing wires and kept stalling out. It eventually died just like yours. Good to hear you get her fix
THought you literally died while driving… glad you didn’t! FCUK YEAH!
Thanks for the encouragement. It’s always nice to keep these great cars going. I’ve had it almost 18 years this month. It’s also nice that these cars are light weight. It died on a fairly busy street, coasted to a lessor busy street - stopped it on the roadside, when the way was clear, slid it into neutral, left the key in the on position, then started pushing with the door open, got some speed up, turrn the wheel about 90 degrees and pulled into a strip mall, hit a small hill into the parking lot, the car stopped, then started rolling backwards! Put my shoulder onto the front door frame, dug in my heels and pushed like hell, it started moving again, then pushed it into a parking spot where I could open the hood and poke around inside. My heart was pumping well after that.
Fortunetly, didn’t have to leave it there overnight as I think the problem was a crappy distributer cap (from Canadian Tire) which was new in September. Once the contacts of the cap were cleaned, it started I’m going to get a quality dist. cap very soon.

hehe, I’m getting old, but not quite dead yet
hi im having similar problems with my 1992 gs, weres the distributor cap located so i can check if thats the problem. srry i dont know much bout cars just started getting into them
The distributor cap is where your spark plug wires connect to. They go from the plugs to the cap.
