DIFF. between ODB1 and ODB1 vtec?

Can I use a ODB1 Distributor from a vtec on a none vtec engine?

odb?

 the hardware and software to support the proper function of VTEC is the difference between a VTEC ecu and non-VTEC ecu.

ol dirty bastard lol

typically i would answer your question and give you the details but this calls for some action instead

Wuwu!

hahaha Okay but for real can I use a §§§§§ off of a 1995 Civic SI ODB1 vtec on my teg ODB1 none vtec?

not unless you like check engine lights. besides that it would have to be reprogammed for DOHC, and not to look for anything VTEC related. what’s wrong with your current ECU?

fyi its OBD, not odb.

on board diagnostics.

I’m talking about the OBD1 Distributor off a vtec car. I am not talking about the ECU.

So can I use a distributor from a vtec car on a none vtec car?

i dont think you can unless you modify it. i know in order to use a non-vtec dist. on a vtec motor you have to cut one of the legs off. im not sure how a vtec dist. would work with a non-vtec motor. def. not a direct replacement. just get the one for your car

There is no difference in the distributor vtec or non vtec.

But you do have to use the distributor that matches the ECU.

OBD1 distributor OBD1 ECU

Thank you very much this is what I thought. Good old odb would agree.

what the hell was I thinking??:bang: the mounting locations are different on VTEC distributors

hahah ayup I found that out today after I ordered one from a local shop :argh:
I will have to return it tom. and get the none vtec obd1.
