differnce in b18a1 head and b18b1

is there a difference in the heads since i jus found out that thats what i have that the b20 heads are the same as a 96+ ls head:rockon:

the heads are the same, the cams and intake manifold are different

so putting a b18b1 head on a b18a1 block wouldnt really do much huh

a1s are rated lower. you’ll get a little but might as well just switch cams and the IM.

what you mean by switch cams and im the ones from a1 to b1?

cuz i got a head off a b20 to find out its the same as a ls 96+ head

sorry to thread jack but would the b18b head be a direct bolt on to the b18a block? cause im picking up a new b18b head with ferra valvetrain and crower cams with port and polished ports for 300 bucks… can anyone confirm that the head will bolt up without modifications?

brian crower cams or crower cams?

if just crower cams i would be weary of breaking them with a stiff valvetrain. just fyi.

yes use the b1 cams in the a1 head

and yes a b1 head onto an a1 block is direct fit just bolt on and go

headgaskets are the same???

headgasket same also

if its a pr8 b20 head then its better but they are hard to get

FYI the b18a heads have slightly smaller intake ports than the b18b’s.
Not that you’d ever run into a problem with stock cams, but s may be restrictive on larger lift/duration cams.

why wouldnt you just get hotter cams instead of upgrading to the b1 cams…
I mean it sounds like the most logic thing to do… swaping b1 cams is still going to leave you with a stock ls.:werd:
