disabled intake resonator

pics??? i wanna see!!

I don’t have any pics, I just took the lower half of the box out and cut the bottom off of it. I cut up higher on the sides that face the front and the fender.

Yeah any pics of this cut/hack job would help. Does it make THAT much of a difference? Oh yeah and after removing my resonator this morning, should i reset my ECU or not? I kno that when you put in a CAI or SRI your supposed to reset but is it necessary with removing the intake resonator?

Thx

Before i put in my intake, i had put in a K&N panel and removed the intake resonator. The only thing it really did for my car’s performance was slow it down. Throttle response became slower and my low- mid range power seemed to have decreased. It might have helped out a little high-end, but then again… it was probably just in my head. The one thing taking out the resonator DOES do is it make your car sound MEAN as hell. The car will still sound stock with the resonator removed… that is, until you really step on it. If you haven’t dont so yet, you ought to try it… just take your bumper off and un bolt the resonator, it shold only take a few minutes. You’ll be surprised by the sound.

I just did this mod tonight, and it sounds a lot better, and there is a DEFINITE power increase, no doubt about it. It’s very important that you plug up the hole from the resonator. I cut out a circle of plastic from something in my garage, put it over the hole, drilled some holes, put a ton of silcone in between the two surfaces, and screwed it in. I think this is why I made more power than others in this thread. Had I not made the hole airtight, air would be coming in where it’s not supposed to, and would disrupt airflow.

  lol yall are funny  :bs:

So airtight makes it faster, and not airtight makes it louder? I’m a bit confused!

wow… thats stupid :nobody:

Phatfunk,

I did the same thing, I am getting bad gas mileage, it sounds cool and hard. but I feel like I lost bottom end, I can take off like crazy and it just suck gas, as soon as I get to about 4000 RPMS I can feel the pull, that really suck!!!..

my buddy was telling me that I need to readjust the throttle body.
oh…yea I have a K&N stock replacement

HELP!!!

anyone know for sure if we should readjust the throttle body?
