So my b16 is having a couple issues. The tach started doing a weird bouncing/sticking thing the other day and when I shut it off it was different from normal I can’t really explain it but it’s like it shut off quicker than normal. After that it woudl not restart a couple times it did but only for a couple seconds then just stopped. I tried cap and rotor and it fired and ran fine but once I gave it throttle it died no sputter nothing. I know i’m getting fuel but with the tach issue and everything does it sound like a bad distributor?
Sounds like your igniter is toast. The igniter gives out pulses to the tach which would explain that issue as well. The igniter test is on page 23-78 of the helms if you want to make sure.
Ignitor is good check resistance and also had it tested.
I had the same issue as well and a new igniter fixed it up
just cause it check good at that moment, doesnt mean it is in 100% working order sadly. if its an intermitend problem it could check out all right but as soon as your as a little head from the engine or any other change from test conditions could trigger it again.
you might have to wait for it to just fail or I would just replace it because your problem does has faulty igniton written all over it.
