Distributor or Fuel Pump Relay???

Ok, I’ve DONE the searching. I thought it was only when my car had been run for awhile, but starting today it is constant. It is like my car is running on 3 cylinders, constant shaking, NO power, low idle, etc. I thought the fuel pump relay was it, but i guess that’s only when it’s hot out correct? So should I try replacing that for $43 from Autozone and if it’s not it, return it and try the igniter?

Someone mentioned, rather than buying a new alternator ($227) that I should put an external coil on and modify the cap. Has anyone tried doing that? Or what do u think about this…this is kind of wrong but i’m poor cuz i just lost my job…buying a new distributor from autozone, and switching igniters and then returning it?:stuck_out_tongue: I know it’s a dick move, but i got laid off and i’m poor as hell!!! No:mad: please

i don’t think it would be the relay because if it’s starting at all (even if it runs like crap and idles low, etc), the fuel pump is getting power which means the relay must be working…

have you tried changing your fuel filter?

other than that, i would think a basic tune up (plugs, wires, cap & rotor) would do the trick, and would certainly be cheaper than a new distributor.

either that or i’m reading the problem wrong… it IS starting right?

check your wires and stuff

well i just fixed the oil all in the spark plug holes by blowing it all out with an air gun, the plug boots were sitting in alot of oil for a week or two. So u think i should change my plug wires? I changed the plugs after i cleaned all the oil out, there is still i tiny bit of residue on them.

check to see if you’re getting spark etc.
