ok so i got bored this weekend and decieded to make a cold air intake. i read up on the other teg tips and read how using the metal dryer hoses can be bad because they fall apart and metal chunks get sucked into ur filter or engine :worry:. so i was looking for things to use and it just so happens my neighbor was throwing out his old plastic rain gutter extensions so i thought i would borrow 1 lol. the gutter extensions was about 4 inches wide so i had to modify the end connecting the air box by making a 3 inch slit down the side and then folded it over and used some good old duct tape to fasten it together again. alright to start i found it is easy to just take off the front bumper takes 10 min… alot easyer then taking out all those plastic screws that strip oh so easy and u dont have to take the tires off. there are 3 bolts under the car 2 behind each turn signal and 2 screws in the wheel well on each side (sorry no pics didnt have the cam). next remove the intake resonator. its held on by 3 bolts.
then run the gutter piping from where the air box and resonator connected straight down to the plastic peice. i cut a hole in mine and pushed the piping thru it, tho i have seen ways to bolt it where the horn is by moving the horn so now there should b a straight pipe connecting ur airbox to under ur car as so:
and dont forget to change ur air filter to finish it off. i got a cheap one because the local ricer shop doesnt carry k&n for the g2.
all together this project cost me $0 and took 3 hours due to mess ups and testing. so i find this a great cheap way to add proformance. i can really tell a difference when my vtec hits .
ps: dont b stupid and go thru deep puddels or ur going to be buying a new motor.
edit: i have been thru 2 rain storms with this and no problems with taking in water so far… if u keep the stock intake box intact then there should b 2 more places air can b taken in insted of water.
