sweet, my gay friend still hasnt gotten a new tranny but when he does im takin his 00 gsr 1-4th gears throwin them in a 92-93 ls case with itr final and lsd… this shit might help then
back from the dead. NO ONE has mentioned about all the measuring that is mentioned in the helms… do you guys do this at all??? This is the only part of the rebuild that I’m hesitant about.
I’d talk to .J. about that, or maybe G2Guru. I’ve pulled a fre transmissions apart, and put 'em back together, not really any rebuilding though. I’ve done some of the measurements in the Helms and most were out of spec…but I’m not positive that I was even doing it right. The parts that were out of spec didn’t look like they had any reason to be, and didn’t seem to be causing any problems.
sorry its not really any help… but really, there aren’t many on this board that have experience pulling transmissions apart, and VERY few who actually KNOW something about it. I have a little experience, and know a little, but I’ve been trying to learn as much as possible.

yes
ONLY if you use a 92+ clutch disk. Splines on transmissions changed in 92. The engine is not affected because its only connected thru the clutch/flywheel mount bolts.
So my flywheel and pressure plate do not need the be changed? Just the clutch disc?
good thread, people should add to this. i’m regearing my ls ys1 with b16 1st thru 4th gears and hydro gsr 5th, as soon as i take the swap out of the car.
Hope that B16 tranny is either a hydro or a YS1…otherwise your plan won’t work.
Do you already have a hydro GSR 5th? If not, I wouldn’t waste the money, just throw your LS 5th back in there.
99 si sir…i bought the whole set for pretty cheap so i’m happy. gears are in great condition too. thing is according to online sources cable ls is 4.4 final…this thread is saying its the hydro 4.266. now thats not good is it? any1 counted a ys1 ls final?
The LS Ys1 is 4.266.
