DIY: Window switch cleaning

HOW TO CLEAN YOUR WINDOW SWITCH

Tools needed:
1.Philips driver
2.small flat head
3.light sandpaper
4.contact grease

First remove to door panel.

Locate the switch and remove all 4 screws and the wire clip.

Now that you got it out, remove the 4 screws on the back of the switch.

Now you need to remove the switch caps. Careful not to break them and do it slow because they will fling across the room [:o)]

Now that the caps are off, remove the rubber dust cover

Now there’s a pin that holds the drivers side switch. Push it out as you push down on the switch as its spring loaded.

Now pull the switch out but look out cause the 2 outer sides will slip off.

Now there are 2 sliders in the switch box. Take one at a time out and clean them. They only go in one way so watch for that.

Now sand the little bumps on the sliders and also clean the inside of the box. Add some contact grease to help it last longer as they burn out when dry.
Put everything back together and your done.
Use all steps with the passenger side switch as well.

Nice write up. I need to clean my driver’s side switches. Thanks for the pics and details.

You’re welcome man:wave:

I did this a couple years ago. When I hit that surprise puddle on the freeway I knew I had to do this.
