Replaced the R side month ago, and the L side today. All cheap napa ball joints, went with MOOG brand this time. To top it off, I didn’t even have to change the ball joints the first time, they were OEM, I just thought I would freshen up the suspension some. If it isn’t broken don’t fix it.
I’m done changing pepboys axles. They suck. Horrible remans.
moog isnt bad, i have them on my CRV and theyve lasted 50k miles so far. a good amount of light off-roading (more like dirt road driving really fast) has been done. a lot of track day like conditions too with good rubber and custom adjustable sway bar links loading up the bars, so the grip isnt as horrible as an OEM CRV and just recently the passenger wheel is a bit wobbly. only like 1/16" though.
yes, pepboys axles suck, i spent the money on Raxles for my integra to spare the headache.
I have napa outter tie rods and lower balljoints and a new ( not remanufactured ) driver side axle
I too have the NAPA outer tie rods, but I bought the cheaper lower ball joints from NAPA for 12 on my discount, and this time bought the $33 ( I pay that, you pay $72).
I did buy the new NAPA axles. We will see.
Oh, and I’m also sitting my lower ball joints in the freezer (shrinkage), for easier installation.:naughty:

The freezer thing either worked or the gods are on my side, because the ball joint slipped into the hole, and all it took was a few knocks with a 5lb hammer to slide it in, and then I put the retaining clip on. That was way too easy.

I told the guy at the counter i go to the local auto tech school ( ctc ) and asked for the discount. He happily gave me it. I really do go to the school though, normally when im in school i can order it throgh the school but im on summer break right now so that didnt work.

Use Raxles. You’ll never go wrong with those. Look them up on reviews.
I got mine at Advance auto parts, replaced them two years ago, still running fine. Put about 40K on them so far. never heard of putttin the ball joints in the freezer, i wish i knew that when i put my adjustable ball joints in. They were a pain in the ass.
Well thats nice…I just replaced both of my ball joints with napa ball joints a little over a month ago. We’ll see what happens. With my luck…
