so i bought this really nice acura integra has 160 k on it runs pritty good… payed 600 $ for it drove it a long distance with a dealer plate back 2 my uncles grage … so he calls me up and says we have a problem… ( as if i wan’t expecting that ) … me and the flinstones will have something in common soon … the cars floor panels are rusted like hell… i lifted the carpting beside the drivers seat and there were holes and the whole thing is rusted … .same with the other side… so i was woundering if u guys can help me out on wat 2 do… i have another integra… would it be a good idea to cut the floor out and replace it with the floor from the other integra… or do they sell oem floor panels or does anyone have the skill 2 help me out i don’t have much money and i live in kitchener ontario …
acura will sell a body pan to replace it but it will be a loty of work, you may be better off getting a salvage pan and having a shop weld it in for you.
Main concern, what caused the rust in the first place and where else is there rust?
If you fix this is the subframe going to start rusting out too?
i’m not sure man i only got a quick look at the rusted area because the car is not at home with me… 2 moro i’m going 2 take the interior out and maybe take pictures of the rust… this car was tradered in 2 the dealer guy bought a new car… the dealer said the car was sittin out for almost 2 years outside so that coulda have been the problem… i’m woundering if i wanan get a salvage floor pan would i have 2 cut it out my self or they sell those how much am i looking at spending here the entier car cost 600 $
yeah you would have to cut it yourself.
Replacing a floor pan is hard no matter how you do it unless you are an avid welder. the stock ones have lip seems where it meets the door sill frame and the firewall frame and at the seems it is spot welded every couple inches or so.
Take a cutoff wheel or oxy/ace torch to cut it out and get a welder to seem weld the entire pan.
Not easy man, thats a hell of an undertaking.
an acura is definitely not worth all that trouble. just strip it, selll the metal, and go and find yourself a solid shell.
u paid 600$ for it. what do u expect. jus ride it dirty, your floor mats will hide it neways
If your cheap, cut it out and use fiberglass. Otherwise plan for some welding.
thanks all these advises seem resanoable … i’m thinking of rivinting a new floor in is that reliable ??
why not just weld in some 1/8in. sheetmetal? not like floorpans just regular sheet steel they do it on older american cars probably the cheapest way to fix it just a suggestion haven’t seen how bad the rust is. rivets might work but i wouldn’t trust them but thats me just go to a sheetmetal place and get maybe a couple of pieces of 1/8in. plate and weld it in there drive it till the wheels fall off and when you get some cash find a solid shell and swap everything thats worth keeping
i would worry about rivets.
If its not airtight then condensation will build up between the two metals and the old metal you riveted to will rust.
i would say welding is your best option but as pointed out above you could just get flat metal and weld it in place.
if you strip it to the shell a welder will not charge much to just throw a bead around two plates that dont need prep.
Just remove all your interior, cut squares out of the floor panels and grind down the paint on the edges to be welded.
okay so i started workin on it 2 daiii … soo i cut out the floor well… started… anywaus… so the floor ahd been prefiously coated with sumkind of ashfalt sealer or sumttn… but what i was thinking is to put braces and metal on top …
theres a pic attatched of what i plan to do after these braces they are in the colour red … i will put medal on taop and weld it on … i will attatch pictures of this project step by step… let me noe what u think of the idea
i think your photoshop skills are 1337!!!111
thatz not the point man
Back on topic, How far is the body pan rusted? It is beyond the footwells and into the seat area?
Post a picture if you can of the condition it’s in now.
Holy shit thats photoshopped? I thought it was the actual car. Well done indeed!
well as the luckiii person i am … sum guy saw me working on the car and said he had a shell that had a perfect body and it is lowered and everything is shaved like modling and stuff … so i didn’t believe him … 2 hours later a tow truck brings it over … and the guy gave it 2 me for free… lol now i just gota swapp everything into it i’m so luckyy arent’ iii :manual: :hyper:
:ghetto:
stop making fun of ma drawing lol
thats one way of getting it done.
too many shells showing up at one house in my area gets black SUVs rolling by your house!:run:

What! No one pieces…
Anyways, sounds like you got hooked up. I’m still waiting our home owners association to start bitching about all the cars in my driveway. There is now 6 plus a boat in the driveway, and another in the garage. People are always asking if we’re having a party…
