So the other day ago I was stopped in the left turn lane when the car in front of me pulls out too far into the opposing lane, freaks out then slams it in reverse right into the front of my da. He then tried to drive off but I got his plate number and caught up with him at the next light, where he says he didn’t realize he hit me, anyway I got his insurance info and already called them up to start a claim. I basically had no choice but to file a police report since I thought he was trying to run, I acted on impulse. Well on to the damage, I need a left fender, bumper cover, headlight bracket, edge of hood is dented and the actual bumper reinforcement. The frame itself though looks to be unscathed in all this. I really don’t want to part ways with this car seeing as I just did the timing belt/water pump, etc other miscellaneous repairs.
It will be pretty close… I know our cars are only worth 2k, or just over that.
For a new fender, bumper cover, corner light, fixing the hood… You’re at 1k right there.
IF by some chance they totalled it, I’d for sure buy it back and fix it. It’s not bad enough to leave it with them and have it go for scrap.
This has got me so upset, lol. I just put an exhaust on it and got springs in the mail too. I’m just scared that a new fender won’t properly align. I can go to pull a part and source everything I need for 100-200 dollars so this just makes me sad.
Good news came in!!! Not only is insurance not totalling it, they gave me 2k from the estimate I got and I opted to fix it myself, looks like I’m going to get a fresh coat of paint.
Lucky, same thing happened to mine. I didn’t do n e thing to the exterior yet but I put two new axles, ball joints, manual rack, and a jdm b20.
Glad that there is NOT one more DA taken off of the streets man!
Here are some pictures after mostly fixing the damages, I will probably get it painted in early spring ,although I still need a new bumper cover.
Do you have a picture of the driver side?
driver side lines up good I just have a white fender from a 91 ls I scored at pull a part. I only have a couple of pics of that side when I was installing the headlights.
