does anyone know alot about brakes

its anyone one this fourm know about brakes and how to fix problem i have

thanks peace out
 :search:

how are we supposed to help you if you don’t post the problem?

oh sry about that well i have a small problem with my brake system right nowok here is what i did to the car,

i took out the ABS system and replaced it with non ABS and all the lines for room for a turbo kit.

i got the lines off a old integra and in a junk yard, i got new pad and rotors, and rebuilt the calipers and bleed the brakes system and the brakes still for some reason are still get stuck like when i drive it the car slows down by itself . what could be the problem with it could it be?:frowning:

obviously if it started after the brake conversion…double check ur work…it might be something to do w/the ecu, but that would be a guess on my part…double check ur work.

do you think some of the brake lines could be holding alot of dirty in it?

It does not sound like you have dirt in your lines otherwise you would not be able to build pressure either. Besides, you bled the system well I assume. It seems that you do not have a problem building pressure (are you getting good decel? do the brakes seem to work just as good when slowing the car down?)The problem is releasing pressure and getting the fluid to return to the master cylinder. I assume all worked fine before the conversion. You need to check the line routing again from the master cylinder, through the proportioning valve (this is key, and I hope you put one in), and finally to the calipers. Remember that it is a X-split system, front right and rear left on one circuit and front left and rear right on the other. It’s a start, let me know if you still have issues.

i drove the car for a bit and all of a sudden the front brakes where slowing my car down for some reason. Why would this happen is the proportioning valve and the brake lines not in the right spots they are suppose to be in. :argh:

You should d/l the helms manual and look into the booster pushrod adjustment settings. What could be happening is the booster is slightly pushing in the master cylinder piston wne the pedal is all the way out . . . . . check the pedal height adjustment too . . .

If that fails, I would find out if it’s both front wheels and look at the calipers. It could also be a bad brake hose (rubber line by the caliper) I’ve had one bubble up and act like a check valve. The pressure wasn’t released after braking so the caliper would stick.

Good luck,
Steve

ok i was told that since i did the conversion to non-ABS that i should have changed the brake booster to non ABS too.

think that could be my problem and if it is when talking off the brake booster will i need to take out the dash and is the brake booster connected to the brake petal ?

Hmm I think the ABS and non-ABS boosters are the same  . . . I’d check the push rod first since it will probably take 1/2 the time and $0.

Thanks man i’ll check that too i hope i can find the problem to this its making me nuts.

Because people tell me the brake booster are different and others say they are the same so i don’t really know but you and j&s teg say other things that sound like that can be the problem.

i have not checked out what you told me to so im going to check that too

thanks again

Well I just looked up the part numbers on http://www.acuraautomotiveparts.net and it appears that the 92 ALB and non-ALB booster are infact different. They have different part numbers. I must have been thinking about a different setup (i think the later Civic/Teg use the same booster for ABS & non-ABS) :bored:

Sorry,
Steve

so do you think the booster i have on the car now should be changed to the non ABS, because people have told me it doesn’t matter and i can use my ABS brake booster just as long as i change the master cylinder and everything else. And other people say that i should change the booster and see what happens that might me the problem why the brakes are not working right.

But for some reason they switch for side to side in the front like they take turns slowing the car down.
