..... doing tuck.... why are there hardlines for PS? ...... are they essential?

I spent this past weekend pulling out everything in the bay so i can get the car painted.
I have an issue regarding power steering hardlines.
YES i will be keeping PS.

Q:

  1. solved…

  2. Circled in green #28
Why the does this car have a PS fluid cooler?
    Is it even needed ?
I’d love to be able to get rid of this by just routing the rubber hose from PS tank to the hardlines.

  3. Circled in blue # 17
The lines are in place to cycle fresh fluid to PS rack/pinion… has other people relocated to the lower fire wall?
What do DA guys do to “tuck” this from the visable engine bay?

I think Honda power steering lines are under a lot more pressure than other manufacturers, which could be why you can buy generics of power steering fluid in two types: Honda and “everything else”. The cooler may be necessary because it generates a considerable amount of heat. I really don’t think Honda would have added that it if it wasn’t necessary, so if you really want to get rid of it why not just install another cooler for it and relocate it to a place where the cooling fans hit?
