i know some people do this to charge their battery. well it can foul your catalytic converter by releasing unburnt fuel.

thats the most retarded thing i’ve ever heard! man…some people, sheesh.:tsk:
why is this so bad to do. Is it bad for your car or what? Just curious.
unburnt fuel (like running too rich) cakes onto the catalyst material in your converter and kills it. the catalyst gets extremely hot, so when the fuel gets to it, it ignites. kinda like backfiring i guess
People used to do this on older vehicles with carburetors because it would “load” up the carb for easier starting the next time. Thats what my dad said anyway.
ic… yet another trick from old carbs that dont apply to us
would this do any major harm to the car if someone were to do it?
i dont know how often or to what extent one would need to do it to kill the cat, but if its been your habit, stopping now will prevent further fuel from reaching your cat. hopefully it isnt dead but i bet its not as white or in optimal condition as say, mine.
Same thing with those flamethrower kits…
I heard that it can’t be very friendly on your piston rings w/all that unburnt fuel running around either
i dont see what this has to do wtih F&F… you dont need to gas it to hear a turbo wind down…
Try it sometime in a turbo car and you will never try it again…not good
