Long story short, the screen went off track and I manipulated it back on. However, the “ribbon wire/cable” dislodged itself from the unit, now the screen does not power on. The end of the wire does not have a cilp on it. (are they supposed to? maybe it is still in the unit.) The end of it does look fully intact, not a pinch or bind. Is this repairable?
double dins aren’t supposed to have removable faces, so brace yourself for the worst. Does the face still turn on? have you tried. If it does your good then just mount up with a new screw or glue. be ghetto if need be. I am mecp certified and installed for 3 years. Your deck manufacturer will resell you the hardware if you contact them and give them model number. There prices are usually jacked though.
The screen does not turn on. The deck it self does turn on (cd spins.)
Other forums are telling me that it is possible to fix by taking apart the deck, reconnecting the ribbon wire to the deck by opening the connecter, placing the ribbon wire back into place, and closing the connector.
yes it is possible basically you will need to disassemble the unit and find the connector the ribbon came out of and open the connector and reinsert the ribbon and close the connector see below for an idea of what you are looking for
my only word of advise is take your time and make sure to put everything back to the same as you found it
Those pictures describe exactly what I was going to say… You should be able to lift part of the connector, slide the ribbon in, and push the ‘latch’ back into place. If it just slid or fell out, then you should be able to repair it. If the wires are frayed or broken, then you’re screwed.
Awesome, now to just take it out and disassemble it… lol
The wires look fine so hopefully this will work out nicely, as I know this unit was not cheap (came with the shell)
