ok Ive been looking around for a while and cant find it unless I buy it online… I wanted the itr carbone fiber plate from acura but they say to just get a regular one from a stereo shop… does anyone know If I can find one at honda even if its not c/f with the part#.
id be willing to make u a custom carbon fiber one but there not to cheeep to make if ur intrested let me know
Id like a real c/f delete but I plan on cutting about 4 holes for guages in it so I wouldnt want to destroy it. the itr delete isnt really c/f its just painted c/f theme. Btw how much would it be for one, I wouldnt mind having one mean while I get my guages on…
Just get a dual din plate, put your head unit in one slot and the gauges in the other slot. Crutchfield sells a dual din plate.
Squeezing a head unit into one DIN and gauges into another is a tall order, you’ll be running some really close tolerances if it even fits at all.
As for the double DIN block off plates, you can get the non-cf ones from Honda still. There are a couple different versions, but if you go to acura look up the block off plate for the 90-93 RS you’ll have something that works. Here’s what it looks like:
There’s another version that, iirc, says “HONDA” on it, and I think it can be found by looking up parts for the 89-91 civic.
ur looking around 50 for a c/f one i have not quite looked into it yet
well I relocated my radio in my glove box and just run it with my Ipod so I would need the complete double din block off.
ur looking at 60 i did the math made of c/f it would be a complete block off
Do you have a decent photo of the fitment and clearances?
No I didn’t take pictures of me putting it in, but I’m not the first person to do it either as I got the idea from an older thread in this forum. http://forums.g2ic.com/showthread.php?159998-Gauges-above-or-below-radio
Colin I like what you did with the area that used to be the ashtray and cigarette lighter. What did you do exactly and how did you do it?
I’m fully aware it’s been done before, it’s just that there can be space issues depending on the exact parts you’re using…
It’s just made from fiberglass. I used a stretchy material over the stock tray then covered that material in fiberglass resin. Once that dried I added some fiberglass to the back for support. Then there was a ton of sanding, trimmed and fit the gauges then used some wrinkle paint to finish it off. Pretty basic use of fiberglass really when compared to some of the trick stuff audio/video installers are making.
I’m simply saying it can be done, and has been done by others before as a response to your statement that there would be fitment issues. If the parts proven to work are used such as the ones in the thread I mentioned above, there won’t be any fitment issues.
A bit late but, i Got mine from this website came in OG Honda wraping but i through it away so dont know product #…
