just bought my friends 17 in rims , which he had used for a couple of weeks on his gsr. He complained how slow it made to his car. So he offered me his rims. But I’m wondering if its worth it? its a no name brand (center caps says EAGLE) and I’m scared of the white paint chipping off soon. Does anybody here uses a cheapo wheels too? Whats the trade offs of a cheaper wheels except for being heavier?

i see rims/tires all day long at my job and i can tell you that of all the wheels that i see that have problems it is almost always the paint or chrome that will chip off around the bead (where the tire and wheel actualy meet). most of the time it allows air to start leaking out and cause flat tires. they always put that “fix-a-flat” stuff in and it does not work. also if you use fix-a-flat and do not have it removed asap, it will begin to cause corrosion at the bead seat. if he got them new you should be alright.
yeah just saw some impurities on the paint earlier while trying to clean it again. Got them basically brand new with kumho ecsta tires, not a bad looking wheel though on my car.
Just noticed that my car looks similar to the featured teg. Props to the owner.
