I just had both my drivers and passangers side axles replaced around 3 months ago and yesterday when I was taking a corner I hear this big ‘pop’ sound and lost all power to the wheels. I got out and looked to see what was the problem. The inner cv boot was torn right open with the cv joint snapped right in half with the axle hanging to the ground. There was a ring clamp, gear oil and some other misc. pieces on the ground. Any Idea’s what may have caused the axle to fail? faulty cv joint/axle? I have a life time warranty on the axle so am getting them replaced today or tommorow. Has this ever happened to anyone before?
whoever rebuilt them didnt put it back together right.
i would suggest when you take it back for them to get them from a diff place.

same thing happened to me … wrong axle was installed, led to MUCH bigger problems … you’re lucky man!
i have no idea what brand the axles that were installed but I know that they said made in canada on them… I’m going to talk to the guys at the shop tommorow since I’ve been out of town for the last few days. When they installed them in the first time it took them like 4-5 hours cause the distributor sent the wrong ones in the first place… they’ll be getting a ear full tommorow… i’ll let you guys know what happens… hope nothing major like what happen to your tranny, steve…:tsk:
