Ok lately I’ve been getting this weird feeling like when your drive axle breaks…Ill take off in the freeway and be like at 50-60 mph and still pushing the accerlater going faster while all of a sudden my car just keeps spinning like just revs while at 60-70 mph so I down shift slowy into 4th than 3rd and still It just revs and does not go…I’m like wtf…so I start to pull over and stop…than I’m in 1st gear and I’ll be able to drive away again…weird. What could be this problem…my axle does click too…
Maybe I didn’t explain it so well lol…I just hope it’s not my transmission…I’ll just change the drive axle and see what’s happs…
Yea I kinda didn’t understand wat u were trying to explain, but most likely it’s ur axle that is bent .or going bad
sounds like your clutch is slipping
sounds like clutch is toast… you would get those symptoms and eventually you will be able to leave it in gear without the car stalling.
Clutch is new. Just installed about 4k ago…broke it in too…it still grabs very good…Its a Sachs lifetime Oe clutch from oreillys…
Did you turn the flywheel before installing the clutch?
No. I wanted to but I had a hard time trying to take off the flywheels bolts so I just left it…the flywheel looked even though…
Sounds like maybe one of the axles is popping out of the transmission, put the front of car up on jack stands, pull the wheels off and make sure both axles are “clicked” into the transmission. 94
It does sound like your axle is popping out of the tranmission.
This happened to me on the freeway. I have just drove off after an axle replacement. I would be driving at 65 or more then all of a sudden, the engine just spinned with NO acceleration. Pulled over. Upon inspection, we saw that the axle has popped out of the tranny. This axle they installed was TOO short and belong on another car. Try looking into that.
^ the pop out would be a 1time thing and it would stop after it pops out. short axels…must not have been a honda :-). if it only does that on some gears then ima go with them gears are bad, but i still think its a clutch problem and/or flywheel.
Your right. He did say he was able to drive off.
Actually it can pop back in, I had a buddy with a boosted 2L in a Civic, he had axels made and one day at the drag strip he got about 1/2 way down the track and an axle popped out and he lost traction on the right side the LS diff. pulled/pushed him to the right and as he slowed down he got traction back and off he went only to lose it again and each time he pulled to the right he got traction back, we found out later that the axle was popping in and out of the transmission.
Although I have only seen this once it is something I would check because it is an easy check. 94
That is a possibility as well. Check that axle before you do anything else.
his car is not pulling to either side. ive done many swaps and changed many axles. jack a honda up get under it and try popping out the axles with wheels n evrything still on see what u come up with. even if the axle is not “clicked” in it will still spinn just vibrate from the play i dnt think thers sufficient room for a stock axle to come out far enough to stop moving unless the lsd stops turning on that axle cuz of it
Do you have to come to a complete stop every time this happens in order to drive again?
Wow a lotta of replies. Havnt been able to check since I’m in Minnesota right now…but yes i have to come to a complete stop for me to get my car back in running…Downshifting gears slowly does not work so I come to a complete stop…put in first gear and I am on my way again…
Sounds to me like you need to yank the case off that tranny and what’s wrong will be very apparent.
