Ok earlier today I found out that I was driving without a oil cap. I found out due to some brownish looking liquid on my front hood. I thought it was soda lol the other day so I didn’t bother checking. Cause the other day earlier I added oil to it and I guess I forgot to close it. so this time I went to another city 30 mins away just to stop and get some grub. While I was waited for the food I finally decided to see what that mess was all about. I popped open my hood and it was all full of oil. Like aghhh. Ugh. Oil all over my engine bay. I was like ah shiet man. I tried to wipe a little bit but it ain’t gonna help cause I have to drive back another 30 mins back. So when I got close to home I had to get sOme gas. While I was filling up I seen a huge puddle of oil just pouring down the asphalt. Oops. Sorry shells gas station. But yeah. I wonder if this will cause any effect on any other parts since oil is all over the place. Would it be removable with steam cleaning from those pressure washer places etc…
yeas its cleanable i use degreaser fromautozone and my hose and it comes off!!. similar thing happened to me. your lucky you didnt blow the engine . check your oil level. and dont forget to put the cap back on.
lol,i did the same shit with my civic, and drop an hour away not knowing till the oil light cam on and a driver pulled next to me to cuss me out for all the oil on his car. Just give her a nice bath, lots of soap and you’ll be fine.
simple green works pretty well on the foam setting.
i rode two days w/o a oil cap on my maxima facepalm i was fine, no issues…not even oil on the under of the hood
I did that once. After that I ALWAYS ALWAYS AWLAYS position my oil cap leaning against the hood latch that way if I forget to put the cap back on I can’t shut the hood and hopefully by then I realize why I can’t shut the hood.
happened to me once, i just rolled up a rag so it was fatter then the opening then “threaded” it in the hole, making sure it wasnt hanging down touching the cam
Ok I just replaced the oil cap. I found a ad on the local craigslist since this one dude was parting out a horizon grey da. And while I was driving to go meet this guy my coolant heater hose busted. It probably had to do with the oil. Mayb not. Idk. Also I just got back from the junk right now. Now I gots me 3 sets of oil caps lol. Also found another da moonroof visor too. Now I gots 2. But thanks for the tip. Next time I’ll put the oil cap next to the hood latch.
I was thinking if doing that too but I thought it might catch on fire lol
Aight Kool. Im going to have to get me a bottle.
So I could use soap on the engine bay. Or jus damp it with a cloth towel.
Ohhh. I Gots plenty of simple green at work. I’ll get a bottle of that too
Dang. Lucky u. Mayb cause ur engine is bigger than the b series. Or just how it’s positioned wheee oil doesn’t splash all over the place.
i think the baffles in the VC prevented the mess
you sir deserve a clip on the left shoulder.:stfu:
I was visiting my parents around Christmastime and my Dad thought he’d help and check the oil level in my car. He thought it was a bit low and added a quart, (Thanks Dad!) except he forgot to put the cap back on. (Thanks Dad…) When I got around to cleaning the engine, my distributor got a little too wet. A heat gun on low dried things out when nature wouldn’t.
