Dude i got black smoke when i race

WTF? When its regular driving, freeway, day-to-day driving stop and go, i have no black smoke. But when i gun it when racing i get a bigass cloud of black smoke. Happened twice, my friends are like, “Goddamn you got like a big cloud of black smoke that covers your bumper”.

Here’s what i have changed and are new:
-Head machined (rebuilt)
-New headgasket
-New plugs
-2 year old NGK wires
-New oil and filter
-New fuel filter
-New o2 sensor
-New valve gasket thingys
-Thermostat replaced a year ago
-Valve job to spec
-Basically, all new gaskets
-Cleaned pistons and piston walls…

What else should i change? I don’t know what else would cause that smoke. And why is it only when i race? DOn’t get why i have so much carbon…

I haven’t changed my cap and rotor, but i don’t think that’ll cause that, would it? I do have a cam seal leak near the t-belt, but i don’t think that’ll cause it…BTW: its a stock b18 with i/h/e.

Any help would be appreciated…TIA

Your car is just running rich…I believe all Honda’s run pretty rich from the factory.

jfwy, uhhhhh at least this post is going back to the top

Well, im pretty sure hondas run rich, but not rich enuff to have a big cloud of black smoke on gunning it.

Jon: Hehe, im still deciding on that, maybe b16…but thats not till 4 months…i gotta make sure my b18 runs good for me till then…

Anybodoy got any suggestions? My timing be checked?

^ anybody got any suggestions??

My car puffs a cloud of black smoke at high rpm too. :frowning:

i think all hondas are like that… when you gun it… it will produce lots of smoke

:bored: fine fine i’ll juss get the damn new motor, no ideas geez.

mine use to, when vtec kicked in, where you there at LACR? when i missed a gear and i couldn’t get it in gear and black smoke was everywhere, people thought i blew my motor haha, your running rich foo.

Its just carbon blowing out …nothing to worry about

could be something to worry about.

i agree with most of the people that reponded, BUT you may want to change your rings on the pistons. I had alot of black smoke in my old integra and a few months later my 3rd cylinder went. You may want to park the car and check that out soon. this may not be your problem, but it was mine. best of luck.

Yeah but usually if u are getting oil into your pistons …its not black …i think its like blue or white …i dont think its black though…and u are right that it might be something to worry about …but mine has puffed black smoke when i gas it for as long as i can remember…

piston rings? seriously?..geez, that is a pretty bad problem. Well i guess i can’t fix that because it’ll be impractical, I am planning on getting a new motor soon. Plus if it is worn piston rings, i’m gonna have to tear apart the engine again. You think it’ll last a for a couple months , MansonClubPuir?
