Crower has just came out with a new Econo billet rod for B series engines that is supposed to be pretty good, but they are about the same price as the Eagle rods. Does anyone know what type of fasteners Crower and Eagle use? ARP studs, stock studs, etc?
Which one do you guys think would be better? If you get a chance, go to Crowers site and read about the new rods, they look impressive for $400, but when it comes to the bottom end, looks are last on my list of importance.
Or on second thought, how about a set of ITR rods? They must be pretty good to rev so high right?
I bought a set of Eagle rods from a member of this board and got them brand new in the original packaging. They came with ARP bolts. I don’t know about the Crowers though.
I spoke with Brian Crower and he said their econo billets came with rods bolts rated at 180,000 psi and their premium billets came with rod bolts rated at 220,000 psi. That sounds like a lot, but does anyone know what psi the factory rating the stock rod bolts are rated at? Or the ARP? He assured me that these were rated higher than stock, but I would like to see how much higher. I am not sure yet what I want to do. I am running crower 62404s right now, but I just don’t know if I want to keep the NA buildup of if I just want to get a B16A and boost it. I am unsure right now. I am just checking into some products that way when I do make up my mind, all I have to do is order parts…
