I have 184xxx on my DA and have a 3rd gear crunch. I would like to swap a whole new motor in. I was thinking H22a from “Hmotorsonline” cuz i saw the price so cheap for a complete change over. My brother has a g2 GS-R B17a and I dont see it much faster at all. I would either like to go JDM B18c or K20A2. I don’t want to have any custom made parts or any of that BS unless i have to, but what engine fits easier? I will be buying from Hmotorsports online. It shows the the JDM B18C is $3149 plus shipping. The K20a2 is $4000 plus shipping. Am I better off just saving up for the a2 motor?? and how much is shipping on an engine?
From what I have heard and read, the K series swap would be more time consuming and costly, which is the opposite of what you want…
if u want a complete drop-in get a b16 or b18c/c5… messing around with h22/k20/k24 u will get fawk… our g2 has a small engine bay unless u stripped most parts off e.g. ac/ps… h22/k20 will cuz u too probably have to do custom work in the engine bay, and the k20, not many people have successfully worked a k20 into it with no problems… although some have with sligth setbacks/problems…
Thanks for the replys. I would like to go b18c cuz not many g2s in my area are rockin that motor. Everyone keeps telling me go for the JDM b16 (not on here) but i would like a motor that has at least the same tourqe as my LS right now. Does anyone know of where I could get the cheapest b18c or c5 online? i’ve read alot of reviews on hondatech, team integra, etc. about some online businesses that do not send all shit needed for the install when it says " complete change over." I’m calling out all JDM B18c’s to help me out here if possible. Thank you!
you could if u wanted, go to a junk yard, u might find yourself a dc2 gsr there… probably not the most reliable way to find an engine (on account that theres not alot of gsr’s in junk yards that is), also its junked for a reason. but hey u might find a nice find somewhere deep in the yard u never know, wont have to worry bout not getting all the parts needed or shiping.

k20’s are good if u have the time for doing custom work to make it all fit good. i’d suggest b16 if ur not able to go big with ur wallet. a nice 18c gsr would also be a nice upgrade and can be had for cheaper then a c5
B16 is out of the picture. I’m shooting for a b18c but im a pizza boy and need my car cuz its my dailey and i would need the swap to take at least 3 full days. I don’t have a spare car that I could just whip around, so in that case I want some decent HP gains and a reliable swap. Nice and easy install would be great for me! if you are rockin a b18c in your DA could you let me know how long it took to be installed?
a third gear crunch would be a tranny not motor. If you want to swap go with a b16. pretty easy to do.
I know thats my trans. but I would like to get a little bit more power out of a stock B18C motor and then throw on my I/H/E. After about a month or so I would like to get useto the HP gains from my stock B18A to the B18C and then decide what I would like to do for future goals.
