Here are my GREAT ebay headers after they blew the third gasket (and that is a Percy’s High Performance carbon gasket… suppose to be able to seal even the WORST collector surfaces… ) in a few weeks…
I am missing the dime size hole picture in one of the welds that developed in 2 days… really… at $75 (I spent $50) the level of frustration with installing and removing them several times to fix problems, it would have been “cheaper” to get something like a DC Sports to me.
I would stay away from the cheaper headers. I had a set of meagan headers on a H22A and they where just horrid. Muffler cement was my best friend for a while…
I had the same problem with the two piece header i after the third blown gasket. I ended up buying a gasket from mirage on ebay and worked like a charm. I also used serviceable thread locker too. Over a year of running it and still no leaks
When you Buy eBay headers your basically gambling in the fitment and quality of the header something ever one should consider. I still have mines and don’t like it at all I had to bent it uP cause it was benlding way to low and it still sit pretty low sucks scraps all the time >.< and I ask for my money back by the seller never responded back
I know im bringing back a slightly aged thread here but i just wanted to say that alot of the “bad” experience with products bought off ebay is in my opinion generally 80% the buyers fault. i say this because most people will do a quick search browse so stuff for a bit and decide to buy a product that is lower priced than most simular products. I have bought tones of stuff off ebay for both my cars and my truck. my cars run fine, and my truck gets abused offroad regularly. the biggest thing i can say is do lots of homework on the sellers your considering buying from, and the best you can compare their product to a high-end name brand the best you can. I have a buddy running ebay purchased tri-y’s on his CRX for years now. no issue and hes seen dyno’d performance from them. good luck with your decision.
to those with ebay headers did they bolt right up to the OEM cat and did you have to cut your crossmember? on my old DB1 i had a hytech tri-y replica and i had to cut the cross member, remove AC and get a new cat in order to get it to fit… on my current DB1 i just want a header i can slap onto my stock exhaust system w/ no modifications at all to clean up the bay so i was considering an ebay header
i took it to a shop and they told me it didn’t fit right and was short a few inches so i had to pay extra to get a ~3 inch pipe welded in to get it to fit. it sounded fine. quiet cruising around, and opens up on WOT, and no rasp at all. after about 3-4 years, it had a hole out of no where (i did not bottom out) and just made the exhaust sound real loud and deep, like i was running some serious shit under the hood, but it simply was an exhaust leak and i was definitely losing power and probably a little mpg. got that patched shortly after.
my total expense after all that could’ve gotten me a real exhaust, like a greddy sp2
