well the chip might work well… but its not healthy for your car… its dumping way to much fuel in and its tricking your car to being at full throttle all the time… bad idea if you ask me
Thats funny just put 500kms of mixed driving on my car this week on 43 Litres of gas. I will admit it might use a bit more fuel but not that much. Actually I just did the math.
31.4 miles Miles per gallon.
Tricking your car to being at full throttle all the time would cause major drivablity issues. This just is not the case. Car runs perfect. sparkes right up, drives smoothly, and gets respectable fuel economy. Spark plugs also apear clean.
Besides the guy I bought the chip from said it would only add more fuel on full throttle, which seems to be right considering how it feels
Two weeks ago I might have had the same ideas about this silly rom chip but I decided to test it out, thought what the hell, I’ll be out $15. All I’m doing is reporting what it’s doing.
To those who got the chip good for you.
To those who are being silly whiney bitches. you complain an awful lot.
I had a spoon chip in my p13 and I walked on similarly modded h22’s all day long. Maybe cause it was tuned or maybe cause it worked. Maybe you’re all jealous.
I dont find it coincidental that he lost or spilled soda on his first dyno sheet.
I dont have a dyno sheet of my stock LS, who would want one?
But i have one of my b16 with all my mods on it. And its higher then my stock LS. Do I have to show it to you to prove it? nope. I dont care two shits what you guys think.
The point of the story is that aguy who had an extra ecu lying around tried something that makes him happy. Did any of you try this?
31.4 mpg is pretty damn good. Kudos to you sir.
Thanks bud
This is just what I was trying to get across. I could see if this was a court of law but it isn’t.
In a month I’ll report back on how the car is working just to complete my review.
Done.
i appreciate it, for those that want to argue on it all day thats fine. sometime after christmas i will put the car on the dyno again, do a run with the chip, one without to give it somewhat of a before and after. its not trickin the ecu into thinkin its under full throttle all the time. just when its actually at WOT (wide open throttle). as others said, coincidental, nope. its a way of life called “Shit Happens”. i try to get on the dyno every six months just to make sure the car is keepin up the power so to speak. make sure its not losing to much power with age. my first dyno was also when i was BONE STOCK. the “chipped” dyno was after my short ram intake and a simple header swap. i have an OEM type-r exhaust manifold and did no modding and re-used my factory heat shield. but otherwise thats it, so it is more or less a stock motor still. no internal mods at that time. the numbers wont be the same as last time either because i had my cylinder head cleaned up, machined and had the ports polished a bit. that didn’t do much for the power on the butt dyno but it definately feels a little more responsive.
i also get good gas mileage. i’m getting an average of 29-32mpg depending on how i drive it and what gas i use. my best was actually a little better than 34mpg on 93 octane gas. i drove very sensibly. never revved above 2400rpms, didn’t go much faster than 60mph anywhere i went. didn’t use any AC or heat. just drove the car as economically as possible. when i installed the chip, i did notice a slight difference in my gas mileage. i was fillin up more frequently but not too bad.
but yeah, as another person said, it doesn’t matter if i had ALL records of the dyno’s and posted every single one of em. photoshop is pretty easy to use. especially on something that has relatively straight lines and easy to read numbers. 3 minutes of photoshop and anyone on here can have a 350hp all motor ls. like i said, i have no reason to lie. this is just the internet and besides, i love this board. so for people who are interested in getting a chip for their ecu, all power to you but dont take any results you read as FACT. unless you are there when said individual did the dyno test. otherwise, its always a possibility that its all BS. its called marketing ploys. I on the otherhand, am not trying to sell anything. i wont even recommend it. its up to you if you wanna spend 15-50 bucks on a small little chip to make you faster, its all you. talk about it all you wish. its a free country. but make sure you where a if you want to talk about it on the internet because no matter where you are, someone will not believe you without actual proof.
have a nice christmas guys. fuck puttin holiday all over the place. its fuckin CHRISTMAS. sorry i saw more crap on the news about this today and its had me edgy since about 10 o’clock.
Well, with that said, I just want to add, I’ve had this same chip for a while now. Yes I did notice a difference, My car did pull stronger from 6k to 8k
my gas mileage is not like it use to be but it’s not that bad either, the rev limiter is gone. all in all my car is slightly faster than what it was. i never posted anything about this chip because i didn’t want to start anything.
so I say, “Buy at your own risk”.–just my 2cents
I wont believe jack until I see dyno sheets.
Which chip is it? I mean, who is the seller? I cant find a $15 Spoon chip for my 93 Ls. Thanks.
dont get those POS…i got one and it fried my ECU, now im regretting it, cause my blown ECU led to the police towing my car, and then my car getting vandalised…now i need a pr4 NON-CHIPPED ecu…stupid e-bay bullshit im never buying off that site again!

Where are all the supporters of the chip now? Anyone care to argue with the statement above? :hmm:
Again, reason why I say don’t recommend shiet unless you have proof.
This:
Followed by this:
So let me get this straight. You think it’s okay to come on here making outlandish claims about horsepower gains from a $15 mod without proof, yet you have a problem with those who are looking out for the good of the site and it’s readership by requesting proof? You must be joking, because no one is that inherently stupid.
If you made the gains, post your dyno sheet with pride. If you don’t have proof, then shut your mouth. At the end of the day, there’s going to be someone who comes here after seeing that chip on eBay, and they’ll read this thread. Then they’ll buy the chip. Then they’ll see that they didn’t gain anywhere near 15hp, and their fuel economy went to hell. Then they’ll wish they had a way to find you and plant their size 10 in your ass for being an idiot and indirectly wasting their time and money.
I couldn’t agree more that you are missing something.
eh? i have a “spoon chip”… and i feel gains, although i never really dynoed it.
i have noticed however that my pockets are burning at 23-25mpg, but this can most likely be attributed to my B16 tranny combined.
Dyno tested and proven for almost 2 years…
Dyno every 6 months? So if I can do my math correctly here, there should be at least 4 plots somewhere and they all somehow got destroyed or lost somehow?
Let the back tracking begin…
I used to trust most, if not all, people here on the board at one time, but after reading that and your thought process of actually ‘cooking your data’, I guess there are people here that I shouldn’t trust.
It’s sad to see this site go from factual and informative to fictional and fictitious. It’s hard not to look at posts and judge the information based on the the join dates but, there looks to be a trend of posts made by the newer members that are outright ridiculous.
Scary thing is I’m starting to find it very comical.
So continue with the outlandish claims as I will continue to challenge them in hopes of helping others learn that there are people out there full of shit on the boards.
you say i got no proof…but my ECU was fine, i put the chip in, and the car was super hard on gas…the car was running terribly, my idle was way off, it would never stall when cold outside, and it smoked a lot because it was running so rich. finally the ECU let go, i tested it, and turns out one of the diodes on the chip burned, and melted and caused a short circuit in my ECU which fried the ECU. i put a new Pr4 A11 ECU in my car, and my God she never ran so well!! idle is perfect, she starts by the first turn of the key, and it don’t smoke anymore, and gas milage is much better. want more proof??
^^how do we know the install wasn’t at fault? everyone else seems to have theirs run fine. maybe the soldering was a bit off??
got the soldering looked at by my friends dad who is a licensed electrician (car and home entertainment stuff) and he looked at the soldering with a magnifying glass cause that’s what he thought, but they were perfect. one of the diodes simply overheated and let go. wasn’t even installed backwards, so installation was fine. you pay for a $7 chip, you get what you pay for.
Chuck Norris gets 50 horsepower from eBay Spoon chips.
Incidentally, he doesn’t pay $7 for them, he just stares at eBay until the chips show up.
You need to learn how to read. The arguemnet of no proof is going out to the guy who claims a 15hp gain. (Dyno Proven with dyno sheets!) Who now apparently lost his sheets or somehow got destroyed. :gay:
it’s because i talked about how the chip fried my ECU a while back, someone quoted me and said there is no proof bla bla bla…that’s where i got that from
riight…“spoon chip” sold on ebay…that tells ya something right there
Go ahead a buy something of ebay you know nothing about, you don’t know how much fuel that thing is dumping into your motor. And if it’s dumping a GRIP yeah you’ll feel gains…then you’ll feel what happens when you drown your rings and they give out. I can make a pretty sticker and slap a spoon, mugen ect on it and just give a shitty programmed rom in a ecu.
