im pretty sure my car has a aftermarket shifter (its anodized blue)
but i think its a ebay shifter… and ive felt other fwd cars… not hondas but same set where the shifter is firm in gears with little or no play
has anyone compared one of those $10 ebay shifters to a b&m or one of those? because i wouldnt mind mine being firm like those are… its like i can wobble the shifter when its in gears
is it even posable on a honda to make it feel like a rwd car where there very little movement when its in gear?
and unless you want to get flamed for asking, i highly suggest you edit your thread and remove that question.
but if you really want answer, as far as i know, it doesn’t matter if its fwd or rwd when it comes to shifter sloppiness. [/B]
what im talking about is how rwd the shifter goes directly into the transmission and everything has very little play… the fwd shifters use those bars and im sure the length of the bars allows a certain amount of play right?
also the same question i asked also before… is the b&m shifter better than the cheap ebay shifters? (other than the bushings)
also do you know if the neuspeed bushings are as good as the energy suspensions bushings?
Not all rwd cars have the transmission between the front seats. Any mid-engine/rear drive car is likely to have the transmission behind the engine, and the C5 and C6 Corvettes have the transmission in back with the rear end. These all use some type of shift linkage.
The normal B&M shifter does not have bushings - you must reuse the ones from your stock shifter. It is steel instead of the aluminum that most Ebay shifters are, and some of the members here have snapped aluminum shifters before.
Member 92GS-R posted a thread about upgrading the shifter with an ITR linkage recently. Also said that Prothane bushings are better than ES.
I’ve had ebay shifter for about 2 years now.
the bearings went out when my mechanic overtorqued it about 1 year ago, but found out that those bearings are the same ones used in in-line skates, so i replaced them. cost me like 2 dollars.
Working fine for me. Not bad for $12.00
