Ebay short shifter suck ASS!!!!!

So a couple of months ago I decided to buy a short shifter. I had a friend that had bought one of those shifters from ebay and I was surprised at how good it felt. I got the shifter a week later and installed it and I really lover it. So about a week ago I get in my car getting ready to install my Jdm 1pcs, I put my car in first and to my surpirse the shifter comes out of my center console. So I installed my old shifter back on. Now I found this store online where I can get a B&M dual bend short shifter for $50 in Raleigh, NC. And it turns out that its right around the corner from my brothers house so he’s picking it up for me and shipping it to me.

Lesson: save up and buy good shit dont cheap out. ESPECIALLY WITH PERFORMANCE PARTS.

LEARNED!!!

damn, there getting bad. I got my short shifter off ebay 7 years ago, and still ticking good. sorry to hear that you had problems. just gotta be leary of what you buy, and who you buy it from. there’s remakes of everything nowadays.

I also have an ebay shifter and it seems to work fine. Mainly what you want to look for when purchasing a cheaper ebay shifter is what its made of. Dont buy the aluminum ones… Make sure you find a cheaper steal one… Thats what I did. Nothing but problems with the aluminum.

Ahh yes, the ebay shifter from hell. I’ve been there, my threads broke right off with the weighted shift knob still in place… B&M FTW, thats a solid shifter you’ll love it.

I guess its too late for me, I already brought a aluminum short shifter from ebay to replace my striped treaded stock shifter. I haven’t installed it yet through.

My egay shifter lasted a year before it snapped. It’s good for temporary use however I would recommend replacing it with a B&M.

why does brand matter on a short shifter? i just installed one i got off a buddy at work that he runs in his crx, but we cant read the name on it. it works well, i mean there isnt too much it should really do. i spent 20 on mine cause he does wholesale on them, and i am actually gonna get another one for my ef here in a week or so.

Because the brand’s their talking about are less likely to snap unlike a no name brand shifter.

When you buy “real name” stuff you’re not just buying the name, You’re buying their quality merchandise and reputation.

:werd:

spikehead221: if brand didn’t matter then maybe u should get an old kia or something. brand matters cuz name brand stuff include things quality and reputation. if the knock offs were just as good as the originals… it would sell for near the same price… but it doesnt cuz they just LOOK like the originals.

if u want to look at it in a different way, think of condoms. do u really wanna chance it with cheaper no name brand condoms than with better higher quality condoms? u decide.

An ebay short shifter was one of the first things I got for my ls in like 2003. It started ticking six months in and I never really had any other problem with it until 2007 when the bushings just completely quit on me and I got that notorious shifter slop. Now I’m running an ITR shifter and linkage, the lever itself is a little longer, but the throw is either the same as the ebay one or a little shorter. Either way, I’m happy with what I’ve got now, and I got a good 4 years of service out of that $30 egay shifter. Then again, I never beat on my car or slam gears so your mileage may vary.

I’m going to agree with the rest and say B&M or ITR are they way to go.

Couldn’t you have just replaced the shifter bushing and called it a day? The ITR linkage works for you because the bushing are not worn out…over time it will do the same thing as your old one.

I got a $5 generic short shifter with energy suspension bushing and it is still running strong since 2001.

I could have, but then I wouldnt have a mad JDM zinc shift linkage y0!

It was the bushings inside the shifter that went, not the rubber, so I figured what the hell, lets get me some oem quality. I was looking for just the itr shifter when I found one together with the linkage for a good deal. I replaced the other bushings with prothane when I put it in so I should be good for a while now.

I got one from ebay over a year ago and it was from APC not the best company but i have had no problems yet and is of a company thats known instead if no name at all. Also it came with bearings instead of bushings.

Got mine from ebay too, back in '05 still haven’t had a problem with it to this day. It is aluminum and is an APC.

My “Billet Aluminum” egay short shifter I bought lasted maybe 2 months before snapping the head off. If it really was Billet, it wouldn’t have snapped…

im getting one for my tag too…but was thinking about getting dual bend short shifter from skunk2…any thoughts on that or am i gong to speend too much?

I actually just picked one up last week. Feels so much more heavier than that ebay short shifter. I doubt the skunk2 dual bend one will break as easy. Got mine for $50 brand new i wouldnt have paid the $125 for it. For that i would rather go with B&M cheaper and lifetime warranty. But its up to you.

aluminum shifters suck…bottom line…aluminum is too soft for a part like this

Short shifter

I just bought my skunk2 dual bend from e-bay for 85.00 shipped to my door. I am really happy with it, and I like it better than the b&m that my brother put in his civic. Just my 2 cents… Mark

how much shorter was the ebay short shifter compared to the oem one?
