I personally like the black one. and since im doing a 5 spd conversion i minus well do a short shifter.

Should I get new linkages and all off ebay? Its cheaper than where im getting the parts.?

Those things are total shit. Save up the fifty bucks and get a B&M short shifter.

Holy crap! I just looked at the shipping charges on that first link. They want $47 to ship to AK! Yeah right! I’m used to paying more on shipping, but that is absolute insanity.

So dont buy it? I really dont want an oe shifter, ive driven a stock 5 spd integra and there throw it like 1.5 feet so shift from 1st to 2nd.

Why are these junk? Im just looking for something thats better than oe and will hold me over like 2 months untill i get a B&M shifter. Money is a major factor right now.

No you havent if you think its really that bad.

And trust me, you dont want to buy that shit. You will either break it off in your hand or it will give you a horrible heat shield rattle. You get what you pay for, there quality and fit suck. Ebay parts suck ass bottom line.

i bought an expensive ass B&M and i still got the heat shield rattle, but my simple solution to that is removing the heat shields. they dont do any thing anyway.

oh and also dont buy cheap shit, ever. ebay is alright, i got my eibach sportlines for a good price from ebay. but just dont ever buy cheap shit for your car. in the end you will seriously regret it.

if you have the tools do the tegtips way

dont get it!!! i bought one and i was on the same boat as u thinking that they were cheap but it would hold me over until i could save up for somthing better. BS!!! i got one and within a week i was left with half the shift arm in my hand…so yea there goes that. i agree with da9tegra up there. if u have the tools, the factory peice makes for a solid short shifter

Well my dad has a welder and I dont have a stock shifter, where I was gonna get mine for my 5 spd conv. it was 25 dollars and this will only be like 15, and as I stated im on a tight budget. So if it breaks I can just weld it and this way I wont need to be doing any mods to a oe one.

I was given an “ebay” single bend short shifter, and yes it is nickel plated aluminum as opposed to steel, and I had to spend a whole two minutes to retap the threads because of the plating, but other then that it works fine. The comment about cheap shifters rubbing on the heatshield has nothing to do with the quality of the shifter. You are going to have that problem with any short shifters. That is due to the fact that the linkage below the pivot ball is extended nearly an inch over stock. I also personally wouldnt recommend removing the heat shield all together as it does serve a purpose and it only takes a couple of minutes to cut/bend the shield so that it clears. As far as breaking one of these, sure the quality of aluminum is inferior to steel, but you shouldnt be using it as an assult weapon. Despite this I plan on throwing a b&m in when I swap my y1 for a ys1 with hydro 3&4, itr fd, and lsd.

Skunk 2 SS

A short shifter was probably the first thing I did to my car and it was a ebay short shifter (ended up being a APC brand). I put it in and even 2 years later have had no problems with it. It might be because I cut off about 2 inches from the top of mine just to make the shaft shorter. I say go for it as long as your not going to be shifting to hard.

i would save up and buy a quality product. i have a dc ss in my teg and love it, i broke the ebay shifter in my ej1 at the knob threads and then later at the axis ball. they are made of cheap pot metal and are bound to eventually break…believe me you probably shift your car alot harder then you think sometimes and honestly how many time do you think you move that shifter during the day…its doing alot of work, so dont cheap out on it.

it will give you a horrible heat shield rattle

pretty much all of them do that. My DC sports SS hit my heatsheild when it was on

get the B&M Edge Shifter. your car will love you for it. feels amazingly smooth. most people have used the ES shifter bushings to make it even better. i didn’t use them, but have been contemplating it lately, just to see what kind of difference it makes. its possibly the best shifter on the market. not just MY opinion, but the opinion of many.

also, there is a reason that it will work on the late 80’s/early 90’s civics and crx’s, as well as our cars, and even the newer civics(92-2000) and integras (94-01 *excluding type-r i believe though, not sure on that one though). the bearing inside the oem shifters that connect them to the shift linkage are exactly the same. one of those things that automakers do to cut back on money spent. which is why most aftermarket and oem shifters made for hondas are interchangeable. hope that helps.

cant weld an ebay short shifter…trust me i tried… many times. they’re made of this elcheapo metal that refuses to stay together.

i got a obx shifter with es bushings the feel is great

i bought one about a year ago…no rattles, no breakage
