ECU chips at altitude

I can’t find any posts on this, so someone point me in the right direction if i missed one.

I’m about to put a fully built head w/ some Crower 403’s on my teg. (still shopping for the cams, so let me know if you’re selling some!!) So, I was thinking of putting a new chip in my ECU to raise my rev limit and get a little better fuel/timing curve. Problem is I live up at 5280’ above sea level and make frequent trips up to 9000’+. I was told putting a chip in would be a really bad idea at this elevation. However, I’ve got a JET chip in my truck (Chevy w/ a TBI 350) and have experienced no problems.

Anybody on here running a chip at high elevation? If so, what are you using? Having any driveability problems?

I know a Hondata would be the best way to go, but that’s a little pricey for me right now. I e-mailed hyperduck to see what they have to say. But, just looking for someone w/ experience right now.

TIA

I talked to someone up here that said they’re running a mugen on a b18c and it runs rich…but i’ve heard that happens anyway w/ the mugens.

My thought is: The problem would be less air up here, so you’d run richer. (sounds right?). So, would it be as easy as putting on a FPR and trimming the fuel a bit? Anybody?

I wouldn’t think that you would have any problems with chipping your ecu that your reg ecu would encounter…lag…

But I say go for it. If your looking for crower 403 cams I got mine from bpmotoring@aol.com for 675 with the retainers and dual springs and brand new.

How much is hyperduck going to charge you? I’m looking at getting my ecu from them as well, but don’t know yet (well waiting on money to come in.)
