I’ve had a problem for a while now with my 92 teg with problems that are similar to a bad main relay. Well I replaced the main relay and it didnt help at all. My c/e light would stay on when the key was in the on position and I would have to sit there like 5 minutes before finally it would click and I would get fuel pressure and the light would go off. Well today I did a little troubleshooting with my meter and this is what I came up with. I’m having a problem with the ECU grounding out pin #8 on the relay. From my understanding, when the car is first in the on postion, the ecu will ground pin #8 for 2 seconds and allow the fuel pump to come on and pressurize the system and then it will remove this ground. Well I hooked up my tester to pin #8 and turned the key on and I read 12v and never read that it was grounded. I left it hooked up to that pin until the c/e light clicked and finally went off and what do you know, my tester read that it was grounded for about 2 seconds and you could hear the fuel pump run and then turn off like it is supposed to. So my question is, where does the ecu ground this connection? Is it in the ecu or is it more than likely a wiring problem? I’m thinking I need a new ecu but I’m not sure
bump!
It may be the ECU, [ground is from the ECU] it it may also be a problem with power into the ECU from the PGM-FI Main Relay, maybe a wiring issue, check for power on the two yellow/black leads at the ECU, sorry do not have the pin out, but they are the only two yellow/black leads, they should be hot as soon as ign is in the run position.
If the two leads are hot as soon as ign. is turned on, replace the ECU. 94
Yea those two wires are hot. I thought it was probably the ecu. Im gonna find one and hope it fixes my problem.
Well Im about to buy an ecu and was wondering should I get another pr4 or should go with the p75? I actually have a 95 b18b1 block with a 91 pr4 head with cams from the head of the b18b1, with a 92 intake manifold. I know it isnt going to make a big difference but I have read that the p75 has better “fuel maps”. Which ecu would be better for my setup?
Just thought I would update in case someone else has the same problem. The problem was the ecu. I bought a p75 ecu and installed and it fired right up on the first try with no problem.
