Bump
I’ve been toying around with the idea of swapping to an EF rack. I currently have a de-powered rack using the old write up from G2ic.
I have a major question that I have not seen answered anywhere. For EG’s and DC’s they de-power the rack by removing the middle ring on on the steering rack. My brother did this in his EG and it worked out very well. My buddy also did this on his Miata. Why has this not been recommended for DA’s (write-up). When I look at the parts diagram it appears to have the same ring??
How would you describe the low speed turning with the way your rack is? Cause I’m to the point of doing that and putting my power one back in.
Also, Are there write ups from someone removing that part on an EG or Miata?
You can do that mod where you remove the ring just like the miata and civic. This video gives you a clear idea of what you need to do to achieve that. It’s a lot and you basically have to disassemble the entire rack and risk damaging it.

I really like this idea might get a extra rack to do this to
I’ll be taking this on in the coming weeks. The other write up is HERE I wouldn’t be too concerned with damaging your current rack. I’ll post up once I complete the conversion.
So you take the rack apart, cut the ring off, close the ports, grease and put back together?
