How in the world do I get that black seal at the base of the pinion gear out without destroying it? They don’t have it for sale on the OEM parts website so I am hesitant. I have to get it out tho and it seems inevitable that it will not be reusable.
you can pry it out with those precision screwdrivers. the trick is to basically knick it on a side somewhere and use pliers to yank on it. its more of a plastic plug than anything. you wont be able to destroy past the point of use by trying to get it out…
I’ll give that a try. I started to use thin pick tools to try and get around the seal but it didn’t seem like it was gonna happen. Thanks for the info.
Got it out, thanks. I stuck a hook tool in around the pinion and pulled up on it. It helped that I soaked it with WD40.
