EG/DC shocks

been lurking about doing the swap cause they are shorter than da but been wondering if it will be more bouncy or softer since theres different weight? maybe they arent much difference?

The rear shocks are a lot shorter. The front not so much and you need the front forks from an eg/dc (which don’t lower any, just required because the shock body is thicker). The front of the car will be a lot higher than the rear.

It’s only worth doing if you have aftermarket threaded body shocks or adjustable spring perches that slip over regular shocks. Even then, it doesn’t always work out exactly how you want it to. I have done it twice, once with Tanabe Sustec Pro SS (DC/EG fit) and H&R Street Performance (DC/EG fit). The Tanabe kit worked out perfect, this was years ago it’s probably out of production. The H&R kit (2 weeks ago), I swapped the front springs for 7" 60mm ID springs so that the front was not pre-loaded but the spring was not loose. I chose the kit so I could get low with out losing any shock travel and also this particular H&R kit uses Monotube shocks which are well damped unlike most coilovers in that price point.

In my opinion, I think you would probably be best served to get ground control coilovers and koni shocks or something like it in DA fitment unless you really want to eff around like I did.

I just installed JDM DC shocks with Evotion lowering springs, which said they give a 1.5" all around drop for the DC/EK but ended up going around 1.5-1.75" for me (springs are not fully settled yet though). The rears bolted up almost perfectly, but the fronts will require the matching front forks in order to work. I also had to zapstrap the brake lines to the shock body because they did not have any brackets for them welded on.

TL;DR They work only with matching front forks and worthwhile only if you’re going with medium-ish lowering springs, and also if all you want to do is lower it, because the handling won’t improve too much from stock unless you have other suspension upgrades in place.

i put buddyclub n+ for dc2 on mine and the rear was out of control low. think breaking off freeway reflectors at maximum rear height…

anyways a friend of a friend has a mill in his garage and was able to make me some aluminum spacer between the top hat and the body in the rear. i think either 1.5" or 1.75". been running it like that for almost three years, works great.
