so im on the sfbay craigslist and i found a 94 civic cx with 106k miles for $2500. i have a few questions and want some opinions. first off, is the price reasonable, and 2nd, although the engine has only 70 hp, considering the weight, would it at least feel like it has decent power?
would you recommend buying it? and also finally, i would consider swapping the engine with a b16, but how much would it cost and could anyone swap it out for me (and get it reff’d/bar
d)?
if its cherry (stock) its good price get it b4 tax season!! if u never had a honda with a swap it mite feel quik lol. putting a B series in a EG is the simplst thing u can ever do its basiclly a integra (DC). the bar u need all paperwork on motor n trans n u gata be able 2 pass smog. stock headrs, pipe, intake, ecu, ect
2500 if its in mint condition with everything working. Ask 2k to see if the buyer bites.
-Don’t expect a race car with this engine. It will be slow compared to a integra.
-Your looking at spending what 1500 to 2k for a engine swap if you have a shop do it. Look around the classifieds…sometimes u might get a good deal on a motor.
-You live in Cali. Look around i am sure there are very nice EG modified hatches for 2500-3k available.
i hope you find one for good price… but it seems hatches most of the time escpecially clean ones are all overpriced out here… considering everybody wants one… maybe start checking neighboring states craigslists too… u can find killer deals sometimes…
ok thanks for the feedback. i was glancing at it cause i always liked the eg, but yea finding em was difficult (for a reasonable price), and this one was the first one that seemed like the owner had common sense with the cars values. i was expecting it to be slow, but how slow was the biggest question. i still want a da, but finding one that i can get to (cause i have no car…old da got T-boned by an SUV) is a problem. if anyone in the bay area (or peninsula/daly city/SF) has a DA they wanna sell, im still lookin
yeah but the lack of weight means once you do do a swap itll be a beast… plus its already wired for vtec if its a cx model… i had a h22 eg hatch dx model and it was a force to be reckoned with… its better to get the slow unmolested ultra light model then swap to feel the power… even if you got the si hatch it would still be hard to feel any power… but once you swap a motor into either the cx or vx and put the same motor into another eg but heavier trim and the cx or vx would win…
